I am a global studies student, able to intern at the UN in NY City for the summer. I would engage with high world leaders, and attend a variety of summits. But, I can't afford somewhere to live. Please help me gain this experience and further my career!

Thanks for taking a look at my page! So I just finished my first year at Emmanuel College in Boston where I am majoring in Global Studies, with a diplomacy and security concentration, as well as a minor in Economics.

I reached out to H.E. Eugene Gasana, who is the permanent Representative from Rwanda to the United Nations as well as the Minister in Charge of Cooperation. The Ambassador graciously fit me into his schedule and our conversation lead to a discussion over political theory, institutionalism, the nature of democracy, and the role of NGO's and the international community in state affairs.

Our meeting ran over time and so we met again at the end of the day. Ultimately I was offered an internship, an opportunity to be a part of his team and work directly with him as well as his First Assistant, Chantal Uwizera.

I have participated in Model United Nations for four years now and continue to participate passionately in the program as I find the people I meet, perspectives I learn of, and experiences I gain are invaluable to me. Engaging in debate over the world’s most pressing issues of today as well as the past, is integral in enhancing my education. But here is an opportunity to experience the real deal with a team that is looking forward to my participation!

But money is always tight. Just the bus trip to New York was expensive for me. Now looking at apartments and sublet's, even the most competitive prices are just super expensive. Especially for the dates that I'll be there, June 1st - August 15th.

I have this opportunity to engage in a position that has been a dream of mine since I learned about the UN in 8th grade. Internships at the UN are restricted to graduate students. But the Ambassador, and by extension the Permanent Mission of Rwanda to the UN, believes that I have the capability to be a valuable part of the team.

I know that I will be working directly with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) and look forward to experiencing as much as I can in the two and a half months that I will be there.

I hope that I don't have to forfeit this literal dream-come-true due to money. I appreciate your time and consideration in reading my story and if anyone has any questions or otherwise, feel free to message me on Facebook or write a comment.

I hope that you might share my story and I look forward to seeing what the future brings!

Thank you!
