Canada's National Horse is endangered, yet due to a variety of factors some end up at auction; with no buyers they go to slaughter. Your donation will help us rescue and rehabilitate these horses, helping ensure the breed survives!

The Canadian, or Le Cheval Canadien, is Canada's National Horse, the oldest horse breed in North America, and one of only three to originate in Canada.

Most importantly, with less than 6,000 animals worldwide, these horses are endangered. In early 2015 they were placed back on Critical Status; read more here.

However, a number of factors sometimes results in horses ending up at auction and, with no interested buyers, they go for meat - something that should not happen to an endangered breed nor to Canada's National Horse! The horse profiled here is a gorgeous 5 year old stallion we rescued; unfortunately we lost four mares to the slaughterhouse that same day.

As a result, a group has come together to buy, adopt, or rescue and then rehabilitate Canadian Horses with the goal of re-homing them but we need your help! Our role is to simply provide homes and care until buyers can be found.

100% of the donations go to the purchase and care of the horses.
