The Sgt Brandon Mendoza Memorial Foundation provides scholarships, annual Thanksgiving dinner for less fortunate, adopts families at Christmas, provides financial assistance to the Boys and Girls club and the Mesa Arts Academy. Brandon started these up

My son, Sgt Brandon Mendoza, was with the Mesa Police Department.  He was killed on May 12, 2014 on his way home from work.  He was killed in a violent head on collision with a repeat illegal criminal allowed to stay in this country and commit more crimes including killing my son.  Brandon had just finished his shift and was heading home after working to keep Mesa citizens safe and his community crime free when his life was taken so tragically.

Brandon had many dreams of what he wanted to continue achieving in his life and I am going to make sure his legacy continues and the community can still benefit from the things he had started and was commited to providing.

He held an annual Thanksgiving Dinner for the community he worked in, which we are continuing, to help less fortunate families.  We have added turkey drives to provide families with turkeys to have at home cooked dinners at Thanksgiving and Christmas.

I am committed to helping the Mesa Arts Academy defray costs of supplies they don't have to keep the children there engaged and prospering in their education with the Arts.  Brandon was an avid photographer and he loved the fact that the Mesa Arts Academy provided that opportunity for the children to learn about photography and enter pictures they had taken into the County Fair and get recognition.  The principal, Susan Douglas, is by far, the BEST school principal I have ever had the privilege of meeting.  Brandon loved her committment to the children, the respect she gave and received from every student and the learning environment she fights so hard to keep.

I am continuing his quest for sporting goods to be donated for the Grant Woods Boys and Girls Club and the neighborhood baseball, softball and soccer teams.  Used and new equipment is greatly appreciated.  I also buy throughout the year, equipment they may be in need of.

I have added scholarships as a way to give back to the community and help children get the college education that Brandon talked to them about.  Many of the children in his beat are determined to become Police Officers because of the impact he made on their lives.   I am continually adding things to financially support that I know my son, Brandon, would be on board with and that will benefit the community.

Any amount you can contribute to help me keep Sgt Brandon Mendoza's legacy alive is truly appreciated!  Thank you for taking the time to read my story.
