Jenny Bannan Cooper hasn't added a story.
Debbie and Tom have always wanted a family. Once they were married, than began trying for a child immediately. Today, almost 5 years later, they still have not had a succesful pregnancy.
After trying for about 1 1/2 yrs, Debbie had surgery & was diagnosed with endometriosis. During the procedure, it was discovered both of her tubes were blocked. Her doctor was able to open up one tube. They continued trying for another year, thinking with an open tube they might have some better luck. With the pain from endometriosis and the Lupron shots, Debbie and Tom decided to put things on hold until she was back to normal.
Debbie had a hystersalpingogram where the doctor was able to see that both of her tubes were surprisingly open. They tried a few more months using various ovulation tests and eventually Clomid & Fumara in hopes of getting pregnant. Still, there was no luck.
Finally, Debbie took her doctors advice and was referred to a fertility specialist. After various lab tests and ultrasounds, it was discovered that the problem was her eggs. They have aged at a very fast rate and it was recommended to do in vitro fertilization. Unfortunately, their insurance companies don't cover any of this procedure. Debbie and Tom had to provide ALL of the expenses up front before they would begin the procedure. Debbie's meds alone were over $6,000 & the procedure (minus anesthesia costs & frequent appts) was another $11,000. Luckily, Debbie was able to take money out of her 401K and use their credit cards to provide the funds.
Unfortunately,Debbie was a poor responder to the medications & at the time of egg retrieval only produced 2 eggs. This was devastating to Debbie, as every one she knew who had done IVF had at least 1 or more frozen embryos after their cycles. Both of the eggs fertilized but only 1 was able to be transferred. Two weeks later - on their anniversary, they were further devastated with the news of their IVF failing. They consulted with their fertility specialist a couple weeks later & discussed options & realized the chances of getting pregnant with her eggs was very small. They came to the decision that donor egg was their best option to have a baby.
At this time, it appears as though Debbie's sister, Jenny, will be able to donate eggs for their IVF. Debbie and Tom will still be responsible for the costly procedure. There is nothing that Debbie and Tom want more than to experience having their own children. Please help make this dream come true for them.
