We, here at MAR are dedicated to getting as many homeless, southern dogs off the streets, out of the shelters & into permanent, loving homes as we can.
We also give a permanent home to 15+ unadoptable dogs. They are loved, pampered & given treats daily. Our goal is to make the sanctuary feel as much like having their own family as possible.
But it has been a tough summer. The shelters have been full and euthanizing weekly. We were asked almost daily to take dogs so they did not have to euthanize. We had to help
We recently found out one rural Mississippi shelter charges people $80 to turn in a dog, consequently, people are dumping litters of puppies in the woods. We could not leave them there to fend for themselves.
So, once again, we need your help. We currently are caring for 51 dogs at the rescue and in foster homes. All the dogs in addition to being spayed / neutered and kept current on vaccinations, are also kept UTD on heart worm prevention, flea/tick prevention, and any type of medication they need
The monthly cost of food & preventatives is $3,400 a month for this many dogs. (This does not include any vet bills which usually are considerably more every month.) We currently have an outstanding vet bill of $800+.
