From the Nortcoast, we know Great Lakes are degraded by farm runoff. Media estimates Animal manure accounts for 30% of pollution entering US surface waters, phosphorus from manure being a big concern for fueling toxic algae blooms. Meat Free Monday is a global conservation movement we need mitigating this eco-hazard.

In August 2014, Cleveland City Council passed a resolution supporting the benefits of observing Meat Free days, expressing concern for a myriad of agricultural, environmental, and animal welfare concerns. City officials recognized local-growers that increase access to Fiber-rich plant foods as good for climate resiliency. Manure is a threat to water quality and animal foods are water intensive at a time when water scarcity is a TOP concern. Please read the resolution PDFs we'll be sending to Climate and food policy leaders.

We'd like the resolution to inform leaders who may be supporting other conservation or health causes, to see how it relates with food services reform.

UN Peace Ambassador, Jane Goodall, expressed support for the Cleveland Meat Free Monday movement and her statement is used by the NEO Sierra Club on their website for Meat Free Monday. However, this has not been enough, we're still generally lacking commitments from Food Service providers who have the buying power to shift to more resource-efficient and KIND practices.

Your contribution will cover postage and copies to send the well-worded Cleveland resolution to leaders all over this nation and canada. We've researced climate leaders and food policy leaders.

We currently have over 600 addresses for Climate leaders.

We would like to send another appeal to hundreds of school boards members.
