Guu’waa’tzi/ Hello, my name is Kalil Garcia and I am from the Pueblo of Laguna. My clans are Big Badger and Little Lizard. I hold the positions half back, tight end, and captain of defense for the Laguna Acoma Hawks 14u Football Team.
Before we get into what the fundraiser is for, allow me to give you an insight to who I am.
I am a student attending Laguna Middle School in New Mexico. I love going to school to not only be with my peers, but to learn. My favorite subjects are math and science. I am an A and B student with future goals of studying in engineering. I have also been inducted into the National Honor Junior Society for two consecutive years.
I started my first season with the LA Hawks 12u back in 2023, and that’s when I developed a strong passion for football.
My peers view me as a leader, an advisor and as a friend. I enjoy helping my teammates understand difficult plays, as well as training endlessly beside them. I love seeing my team become one on the field whether it’s during practice or during our games.
Our team has received the opportunity of a lifetime. The Laguna Acoma Hawks 14u has been nominated to play in the Pop Warner National Tournament in Orlando, Florida in December. We are also the FIRST and ONLY Native American YAFL team to attend this tournament. Will you help me get there?
