My Yoga Journey

Back in 2015, I took my first yoga class during my last semester as an elective at UArts. It was a helpful way to take care of muscles sore from dance class, as well as to become more aware of my body and all that it could do. That summer, the teacher generously allowed me to attend classes at his studio for free. It became a priority to me; I biked twice a week to practice, and I even wrote it down as a work conflict. The discipline was good for me.

My schedule changed to where I was no longer able to take his classes, and I needed to figure out an affordable way to continue practicing yoga. I began the Barter Program at Wake Up Yoga, where I cleaned the studio once a week in exchange for class credits. It got to the point for me where if I didn't practice twice a week, my muscles and my mind would become cranky and irritable.

Since then, yoga has a become a way for me to clear, ground, and focus my body, mind, and spirit. I'm ready to dive into the great subject of yoga, and to eventually share this sacred practice with others to help them ground themselves in whatever ways they need and to help them discover all that their bodies are capable of.

I begin my training on January 26 at Motherheart Studio in Fishtown, Philadelphia. The training lasts until August 3. The total cost is $2160, which I'll be dividing up into monthly payments of $308.57. I need 2 textbooks that total $55. I'm seeking folks who would be willing to sponsor my training in any way, whether it's paying for a month or simply for a book. Thank you for supporting my journey!
