Vickie Netzloff hasn't added a story.
I had a full time job till downsizing, over 15 yrs ago-had no financial savvy to "not" take a lump sum. Due to severe sciatic pain & new leg weakness in my better leg (had polio at 8mos old) I lived on that. Then I was blessed to receive Social Security Disability after, but ended up filing bankruptcy in 2009-something creditors, it seems, never seem to forgive you for.
I have done animal rescue on my own for at least 25 yrs and find it difficult to make ends meet with the unbelievable car repairs on my 2005 Dodge Neon over the past 3 yrs or so-at least $6000 worth. Add on, several plumbing jobs, expenses from my mom's funeral, co-pays & deductibles for a new leg brace on my paralyzed leg and shoe lift, $275 part to fix the furnace 2yrs ago, maintenance for over 12 cats, plus tack on the 20% interest-and it's a real party-for the credit card folks, anyway.
Recent car repair- 3 motor mounts, oil change, tune up ($840). I am told if I want my car air to work another $490; guess it's been a long hot & humid summer. I was also told I need more work- struts and bearings and such, another $600-but don't need it right away. Gee, I feel so blessed by that!
This year, May 2018, just before summer my furnace stopped working. Now near end of August I will have to have someone come & diagnose the trouble-not looking forward to that. Two days ago I spent hours, as I do once a year, to thoroughly take apart and clean my beloved 7 yr old basement dehumidifier and accidentally lifted up a part I should not have, and all the freon escaped. So once again, on the high interest credit card, I ordered a new dehumidifier.
My house needs painting inside and out, but this is minor compared to my furnace that died in May 2018. About time to have someone diagnose it. I recently noticed my one basement wall is bowing out- a scary scenario. My living room ceiling has leaked water, though my roof is only about 10 yrs old. Just paid $75 to have my eaves cleaned out and he quoted me another $75 to repair where he feels sure the water may be causing my ceiling leaking. I also have these "starter" trees all alongside one side of my house that need removed but they are twice the height of my house and their trunks are getting rather thick. Hate to think what tree people would charge for that. I know it is now good for the base of the house.
Though I bought and paid for a new refrigerator 3yrs ago the old one was leaking underneath. I attempted to rip up the floor but gave up-too painful on my shoulders and torn biceps tendon. There are so-o-o many layers, In all honesty I need a whole new kitchen. My one cupboard sits at a slant. My stove came with the house 30 yrs ago and it looked ancient then. My queen mattress & box springs have been screaming to say good-bye for at least 5 yrs. I need a new bathroom floor. My hardwoods needed refinishing when I moved in and the windows are ancient. Other than that, we're sitting pretty.
So that's my story in a nutshell. Bless you if you can help.
