Maya is the word for Love in a local himalyan dialect.

This necklace symbolizes the name Maya & a vision to see young women empowered to leave Red Light Areas.

In April this year (2014) we started a guesthouse to provide jobs for at-risk women, coinciding with the guesthouse is a beauty parlor and in the future a handicrafts shop. Slowly something truly beautiful is in the making.

Most women working in Red Light Areas in the Himalayas, are uneducated, and have come from impoverished communities. They are very much at-risk of being abused, exploited or contracting HIV/AIDs.

Our vision is to provide skill training and employment to disadvantaged women, and empower them to see positive changes in their own lives. But we can't do it alone!

In only a few months we have managed to raise the first half of what we needed to fully acquire and run the guesthouse. Now we are down to the final stretch. We have a further $5000 to raise.

For every $50 donated one of these beautiful necklace sets will be sent out postage included. This particular necklace comes in a choice of three different colored stones, pearl, turquoise or garnet. The necklaces are hand-crafted real silver, and are hand-assembled by women who have left Red Light Areas and are starting afresh.
