Paula McCarren hasn't added a story.
My friend knows my love for chihuahuas. She contacted me with a # for a "free black chihuahua 1 years old, unable to take picture because dog won't hold still." Sunday night at 10pm I was asked to get the dog but wanted to meet when I asked for the address. So, pajamas on, I went. The little guy had this pudgie face. She handed him to me with a leash and stated she couldn't find the cat collar of his. This dog was nothing but bones. I put him in my vehicle and was so disconbobulated I forgot to ask the name. I took him home. He never barked, wouldn't eat. We tucked him in good nite - in bed with our son who was happy to love him. The next morning I assessed the little fellow better. His ribs show, his neck is tender and malformed with an indentation around his neck. His collar bone sticks out. His nails are so long He could not walk on the kitchen floor. I called the vet. We headed there later that day. Still, no barks, not able to eat as he acted. Yet, he wanted to keep warm against us in a blanket. I started to feel sick on my stomach. I sent a message to the previous owner to Atleast ask the name and age again. She responded later that day with the name and a different age from the original post - now 1 year 8 months. To the vet - who examined him. The dog never put up a fight. He sat there better than a child. She questioned his neck and also explained complications possibly from his assessment of his malformed misshaped neck - front legs walking high step possible from nerve damage. She found an abscess in his mouth, wrote up a receipt of things we need to do. At this point we are hoping to find him a loving home because we have 2 dogs and my little chihuahua little Jimmy wasn't real fond of the new guy in town. So, we opted for rabie shot, nail clipping, deworming testing and treatment. And left with the information of needing X-rays to see the damage to his neck, neutered, dental, vaccines and follow up. She told me to take him home and plump him up. Today, Thursday he finally consumed a good meal. Rice and hamburger. He's been playful, loving, warm. Still no bark, is afraid to walk on the hard wood floor and deck. Cannot get up the steps bc I'm assuming the feel of the deck hurts him if there is nerve damage. My other fellows are getting use to him as well. I have attempted to again contact the previous owner asking her if she could tell me what was wrong with the dogs neck. No response. That was 2 days ago. I don't expect an answer. In the meantime, we have decided that his little booger needs this home and we want him. So, if you guys could share this any help we can get to fit the bill would be overwhelmingly loved. Please and thank you :) in advanced.
