For those of you that don't know Wishbone I will give you a little background history.
Wishbone was born in a puppy mill that was raided when she was only 8 weeks old. Many rescues stepped up to help all the dogs that were on the property. When Wishie was rescued they noticed her breathing was a little off. When she was examined by the vet they did ex rays to find out that her 5th and 6th rib cage was missing the muscel that holds the rib bones in place, causing her's to spread out in the shape of a wishbone.
She was 8 weeks old and only weighed in at 10oz. To small for surgery and no one knew if she would live or not. Well into foster care she would go until she reached a safe weight to try surgery. When she was 4 months old she came into my home to foster. She was 1.5lbs and a little spit fire. She gained weight and grew healthy and strong. By the time she turned 6 months she was a whomping 2.9bls! So off to the vets we go. Well not only did she grow in size and weight but so did the hole in her chest. It grew so big that it would do her more harm then good to fix it. Well during all this I fell in love with my little spit fire and decided to adopt her.
She continued to grow and put on weight and is a healthy, happy 6.8lb spit fire that is not afraid of anything and will be 2 this August. Sadly buring all this her 4 legged brother was diagnosed with anal gland cancer and we were in the fight of a life time. It has been 2 years and he is still fighting but is on comfort care only. Well Wishbone went in for her yearly check up and what did the vet find but TWO floating knee caps. Both knees need to have surgery on them.
She loves to run and play with her sister. Their favorite thing is to tear throught the house and backyard as fast as they can and then do it all over again. Sadly she can no longer do this as much as she likes because of her knees.
I hate to ask but I don't have enough funds to cover her surgery. The Vet is estamating the surgery to be 1800-2000 for both knees. She will be going to Wadsworth Vet Clinic and the surgery will be done by Dr. Dane Arends. I am asking for donations of any size. No donation is to small. Thank you for any and all donations.
