I am Laura and I need help to fund medical costs for treatment of a rare disease called Ehelrs Danlos Syndrome that causes me to be in severe pain all over my body every day.

I was diagnosed with Ehlers Danlos Syndrome almost two years ago when I was 25 years old. Most 25 year olds are waiting to hear whether they got a job they applied for, or if the pregnancy test was positive as they'd hoped, but for me, I sat apprehensively waiting in the doctors office, just months after my 25th birthday, before being told that I had an in-curable disease that would cause me pain every day and could result in needing to be in a wheelchair for the rest of my life.

I do not crumble easily but that day it wasn't easy to keep a brave face... The following year and a half were trying to say the least.

The problem is that many doctors are still very under educated about Ehlers Danlos syndrome and some haven't even heard of it. My GP is unfortunately one of these doctors and doesn't understand that I need to receive specialist treatment from doctors who specialise in the management of such a rare disease.

I need your help to fund the costs of further medical treatment; the cost of being seen by a specialist in a private clinic and to fund the tests needed and then treatment to help me live more comfortably.

These days life seems bleak and it's so frustrating when I can't get the help I need due to lack of funds meaning I cannot be seen by the right people. I need a new wheelchair too as my current one is not capable of providing for my needs now and using it still brings me pain. Your donations could help fund a new wheelchair for me and enable me to go out and do some of the things that I can only dream of.
