Cat Krenzel-Rodriguez hasn't added a story.
Catherine (Cat) Krenzel-Rodriguez was diagnosed with epilepsy after suffering a severe anaphylactic reaction while serving for our country in afghanistan. She has been struggling with multiple seizures a day and has had two surgeries in the month of January involving her bladder. Now, in order to even go to the bathroom, Cat needs help from medical supplies. Zoey, her service dog in training, is helping Cat return to a full life. She has saved her life multiple times already by alerting to seizures (licking, nudging and snuggling) and has alerted others to her having seizures (barking and showing where Cat is) in the shower and preventing a downing. Her family would agree, that if it weren't for Zoey, Cat wouldn't be here today.
We have seen first hand what would happen to Cat without Zoey. Zoey got very sick and was hospitalized for close to 3 weeks and nearly died. Cat was devastated at the thought of her best friend dying. Her husband Rik couldn't bare to see her come so far, because of Zoey, and lose all their progress with independence, confidence, and safety. Getting Zoey well added an additional $3,000 to her final cost. Cat is not complete without her best friend Zoey, and they are inseperable.
Anyone who knows Cat, knows that she absolutely loved they army. Upon getting injured, she can no longer serve. The Veterans Affairs (VA) disability is a long proccess and her and her family are still awaiting for help. (nearly 3 years now) When the military chaptered her out due to seizures, she went to work for a military bank. She was let go for missing too much work to due seizures on the job and at home. It has been very hard on her to go from super soldier and mother, to not being able to work, drive, bathe unattended, going on carnival rides with her children, fly in an airplane, ride in car for long distances (to visit family across the country), cook on the hot stove, and go to the bathroom witout having to use a catheter. Since she got Zoey nearly 6 months ago, we have seen that light of life back in her eyes that has been gone for 2 years.
Despite all of the medical problems, Cat has such a positive look on life. She has become so positive and we see "our cat we thought we lost" more comfortable with her new life, as she is running her fingers through Zoey's soft fuzzy hair and looking at her pasionate attentive eyes. We are slowly getting our Cat back all thanks to a loving supportive family (where some live way to far away to be with her, but are thankful and have peace of mind), friends, Noelle's Dogs Four Hope (found zoey for Cat, and the agency training her) and an attentive little Aussiedoodle, Zoey. Not only does Zoey help Cat, but she helps her children (Amaya 6yrs, Martin 5yrs, and JJ 8yrs), by making them feel safe and seizures not so scarey. They know that mom will be okay as long as she has Zoey. Cat gets very scared sometimes, when she is coming out of a seizure and very confused. Imagine eating out at dinner one minute, then all of a sudden waking up in an ambulence or tied to a hospital bed (so she doesn't wander off or pull IV's out while she is coming out of the seizure). Zoey has become an intricate part of her life and the one constant in those moments, and she settles her down so doctors can take care of her.
With help, comes cost. Cat's family has went from a two income household, to a one income with more bills. She needs your help to offset the cost of training Zoey and medical bills. Please make her family's dream come true and get her pup, Zoe, trained completely. Any little bit helps and is appreciated. May God Bless you and keep you safe.
