About two months ago, we were asked to help Kenny. A rescue partner of ours had saved him from a cruelty/abuse situation (his previous owner was prosecuted and is now in jail). We were asked to help and we were happy to say "yes"!
Kenny is an incredibly sweet, gentle, lovable dog. He is truly a "gentle giant". When we first met him he desperately needed to gain weight. He's done that, and is now ready for his next steps towards his new life.
Kenny unfortunately tested positive for heartworm. Now that he's gained some weight, he needs to undergo treatment before he can come to us in Connecticut. The good news is that he tested a "low positive" and has had no symptoms of the infestation - which bodes well for him tolerating the treatment without complications.
The cost of treating Kenny for heartworm is estimated to be $600.
AATDR is a new rescue - we just celebrated our first year anniversary - and we have limited resources. We are newly approved as a 501(c)(3) public charity. Until that happened, our fundraising avenues were limited.
As a non-profit organization, we can do nothing for dogs in urgent need without your support. We totally depend upon donations of like-minded animal advocates - supporters and donors - the be able to save dogs like Kenny.
