DEUTSCH
Alles steht still, eine gespenstische Ruhe rundherum.
1000.- PHP = 17.- CHF
COVID-19 (Corona) legt uns vorher schon lahm. Fast zwei Jahre keine Gäste, entsprechend bleibt die Kasse leer. NULL Einkommen.
ENGLISH:
It's been an unbelievable long fifteen days (15) since the traumatizing Super Typhoon Rai (Odette), still no electricity at all! Everything stands still, totally quiet everywhere. Fifteen days that we used despite everything to start cleaning up and to calculate the damage more precisely with the specialists - the result is terrifying. And even if it's just repairs, the total cost, including boats, car, generator, and building components, is around 24 to 26,000 US Dollar! Ufff! And on top of that, what has already pushed us to our limits - COVID-19.
COVID-19 (Corona) paralyzes us beforehand. No guests for almost two years, so the cash register remains empty. ZERO income. But the bills remain. And now that extra and unexpected blow. This destructive event is now definitely bringing us to the stop. Super Typhon Rai (Odette) hit the region with sometimes up to 240km wind speeds and torrential rain, some damage. And in our case, "Murphy's Law" in the classic sense also comes into play.
In the event of a power failure, our generator should serve to protect our food storage. When switching on, however, there was no electricity from the generator, only smoke! So our $ 15,000 generator also lets us down and now has to be repaired by an expensive specialist. The stator copper winding is burned and has to be rewound with new copper wire - it costs around 2000 USD to rewrite it and, nobody, but nobody here on the island is able to do it. So we have to transport the heavy part 25 kilometers to have it repaired. It takes four men to lift and move it!
And what happens if there is no electricity? It's all going down! In our case, it is getting to an extent that we never expected. All four (4) spacious freezers and one (1) refrigerator have defrosted and all of the food in them has now spoiled! Nothing has been spared. Fish, beef and pork fillets, fruits, vegetables, etc. Damage approx. 2000 USD. Outside the kitchen, the damage is even more extreme.
House roofs, which were actually considered stormproof, were simply torn out like toys. House walls and all the border fences also fell victim to the strong wind. The problem here are the falling trees and palm trees that flattened everything. No building was totally destroyed in the process - luckily. By the way, for most of these repairs we have to come up with heavy stuff, such as chainsaws, which have to be operated by specialists. But that's not all. Because our passion project also includes boats.
And these have also been badly affected by the violently storm with the high wind speeds. According to eyewitnesses, the two heavy boats were apparently caught in a kind of tornado torn and thrown from their stand bases, which caused a lot of damage. In short, the entire front of one boat has been torn off and the other's entire upper deck. Expensive repairs are also pending there. This will certainly take 2 months. Much work and material are required to repair it. And finally, it should also be mentioned that our guest bus was also damaged. In this case it's a smashed windshield - yes, that too.
All of this may sound like a bad joke. No, unfortunately it is not. It's the sad truth. Everything happens at once, in one night! It is very clear to us that we were lucky in adversity. After all, there is still something we can fix at all. Only that costs. And that's where our social media friends come into play, who encouraged us to set up crowdfunding - which we have now done. Maybe there is someone out there who has the ability and the will to help us restore our lifework. And it's not just that. With your help you also support our good employees and their families, whom we have always supported through the entire COVID-19 era.
If we can at least repair all damage in the resort so that we can be ready again as soon as possible.
