Peter Franco hasn't added a story.
As many of you know, I have been fighting as an advocate in Bayonne for over 5 years now. Whether I was standing up to big time developers stealing our water or bringing attention to negligent city contractors, I've continued to fight for honest service and accountability for all of our residents.
Some examples:

In December of 2015, residents came together to protest the firing of our local animal control provider, Liberty Humane Society (LHS). After learning that the new provider New Jersey Animal Control & Rescue (NJACR) submitted an incomplete response to the city’s Request For Qualification (RFQ), by failing to provide liability and workers comp insurance as well as a copy of a contract with a NJ licensed animal shelter, we organized a rally outside city hall and shared our concerns with our elected leaders. Unfortunately, our efforts did not change the city council’s decision.
For the next two years, I continued to document and update the residents. Through requests under the Open Public Records Act, we armed ourselves with facts and took to social media to alert residents and animal lovers alike about what was going on.
Our public lobbying eventually led the city to put out another RFQ for animal control service providers, but in the end, the city council decided not to select an alternative provider despite documented complaints.
As the contract with the current provider was set to expire, the city issued another RFQ for qualified providers in November 2017. The submissions were opened in December, but the awardee was not selected by the deadline to make it onto the December council meeting agenda. The two companies vying for the new contract are NJACR and LHS. The vote to award that contract will likely be taken on January 17, 2018.
In an attempt to censor, intimidate, and/or silence me, NJACR and its owner Geoff Santini have filed a strategic lawsuit against public participation (SLAPP), burdening me with the cost of a legal defense until I abandon my advocacy on animal control.

Up until this point, I have bared every cost on my own. However, in order for me to continue to stand up for what’s right, I need your financial support now. Your donation will go directly towards the legal defense, as well as a counter suit related to the recent defamation of my character by NJACR employees. Any unused funds will be donated directly to animal rescue groups in Bayonne.
Thank you in advance for you support.
