Solala Towler hasn't added a story.
Happy Year of the Green Wood Dragon!
As you can see, I am over half way to my goal. I am so thankful for all the wonderful donations I have received from students and friends! I so deeply appreciate the kindness and generosity of you all.
I incurred some debt during the covid years when my China tours, conferences and private workshops were all shut down and it great to be able to chip away at that with your generous help!
In this second phase of my fundrazer, I have posted a bunch of NEW PERKS, from books, to audio and video courses, to a personal Gongfu Tea Ceremony! I hope something here "perks" your interest!
If you have any questions about them or wish to have them sent to someone else of your choosing, that is fine. For instance, you could sign up for an I Ching reading and send it to someone else as a gift.
I SO appreciate your support at this time.
I hope this will inspire you to share whatever you can honestly afford.
Your donation, in any amount, will be a supreme gift to me. Whether or not you are able to contribute at this time, PLEASE SHARE this fundraiser with your friends and community.
(The image above is a beautiful statue of Ganesha, often called The Remover of Obstacles. He represents the spirit of "opening the way" for any journey, project or undertaking. I have been opening to his guidance and support throughout this fundraising journey.)

Perks
Tea Mind, Tea Heart is a journey into the world of tea…tea as meditation, as a way to commune with nature, as a journey into your deepest self.
Drawing on his thirty years of study of Daoist philosophy and practice — including qigong, Daoist meditation and of course, the Way of Tea, Solala weaves a magic web of stories, poems and essays, taking the reader onto a journey of deep exploration and inner illumination.
Illustrated with over 50 full color photos from China and the U.S., Solala’s book is an offering from the heart and soul of tea of Chinese tea.
Introduction
No one knows how long The Teahouse At The Edge Of The World has been there, or where it came from. There are various theories of course, but none of them tell the true and complete story of The Teahouse At The Edge Of The World, though some have parts of story correct. But no theory is one hundred percent correct, and so it remains a total mystery to everyone.
Some people say it came from “nowhere,” and some people say it has just always been there, like the sun. This seems like the likeliest story.
What is known is that it is impossible to go directly to The Teahouse At The Edge Of The World? One must just “find” him or herself there. It is not listed on any maps and is certainly not in any guidebooks. Some people say it exists in some kind of subliminal zone, just outside the periphery of consciousness. I have also been told that it is only by a “spiritual journey” that one can arrive there.
Another very interesting thing about The Teahouse At The Edge Of The World is that it looks and feels different to the different people who “end up” there. To some people it is a tiny shack; to others it is a palace. And the tea servers one meets there also are very different. They can be anything from an old woman to a ravishing young one. Or they can also be more than one person.
As mentioned, one cannot go there on purpose or by following any sort of map or set of instructions, at least not in the literal sense. Everyone who seems to find themselves there feels like it is some kind of accident or perhaps even divine intervention.
The one thing that everyone shares is that they have some kind of healing. Whether it is from the tea itself or the interaction of the tea servers and the “customer”, or whether it is the environment itself, is unclear. But, as you will see in the following pages, each person’s story, though different, ends up with a sense of healing, of wholeness, and of a sense of greater peace in their being.
And while each story is different, and some quite fantastical, it seems these stories are as real as history and as true as time.
In this perk I will perform a special Daoist Gongfu Tea Ceremony just for you...(can be done on zoom)...I can even send you some high quality tea beforehand! in the Daoist tradition Cha Dao or the Way of Tea is considered a form of meditation and is an important spiritual practice...

Through the Book of Changes or the Book of Transformations (Yi Jing) it is possible to receive guidance/information about the various forces that are influencing our situation at any point in time. It is how we work/play with these forces that creates our future. Any situation, no matter how challenging, can be used in this way to further one on the path of spiritual self-cultivation. Through the guidance of this ancient book and the teachings it contains, we learn how to flow with the changes life offers us instead of fighting them. The words and teachings of the ancient masters can help us see and understand more clearly any situation and give us the tools we need to use each present moment to create the future we seek.
I have been working with the Book of Changes since discovering it in the late 60s. I have done in-depth study with Taoist master Ni, Hua Ching and use master Ni’s translation ( The Book of Changes and Unchanging Truth ) as my primary source, though I often refers to other versions as well. In Master Ni’s school the I Ching is not only used as a divination tool but also as a tool for spiritual self-cultivation.
Types of questions/issues we could look at:
What do I need to know/hear right now for my spiritual
evolution? Please give me guidance about my life path.
I am
thinking of moving to a new location.
I am thinking of a new career.
I am seeking guidance on pursuing/not pursuing a new
relationship.
I am seeking guidance on a business
decision.
What do I need to know about my present situation so
that I may move forward in a balanced and clear fashion? Health
concerns:
How serious is this?
How should I move
forward?
Choice of a doctor?
How can my higher self/inner
guidance help with this situation?
Also, feel free to come up
with your own questions/concerns!
