Heidi Rushing hasn't added a story.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story. We are Jeff & Heidi from Dayton, Ohio. We have 3 beautiful cats, Toby, Alaska & our baby girl, Bella. Bella is only 1 1/2 years old. She is a calico/ Bengal mix who loves to play, very spunky & loves cuddles with her daddy. A couple of days ago, we noticed Bella wasn’t acting like herself. She was just laying around, wasn’t interested in playing, or even cuddling with daddy. We even tried her favorite toy, laser light, to no avail. We kept an eye on her that first day, hoping she just had an upset tummy and nothing much to worry about. However, we noticed she didn’t want to eat and hadn’t used her litter box. The next morning she was the same, so Jeff took her to the Vet to be looked at. All we had left for the month was $125 so he found a Vet with a free office visit and took her there. The Vet checked her over and couldn’t find any signs of trauma, broken bones, or muscle issues. She didn’t have a temperature and seemed more alert than she was at home. She did say Bella was dehydrated and it was probably because she hadn’t been eating or drinking much. She felt that it could just be a virus and it needed to run it’s course. She wanted to do some blood work to see if anything was off, but they charge $133 just for that. Jeff explained our financial situation and, me being disabled and now on Social Security as our only income, we just couldn’t afford that much. We asked about a payment plan but, of course, most Vets won’t offer one. They offer something called Care Credit, which is basic credit card and, we didn’t qualify for it. So, the Vet decided to give Bella some IV fluids and a shot for nausea in hopes that it was just a virus as suspected. We ended up paying around $75 for the visit, because they gave us a free exam thankfully. So Jeff brought her home and, she did eat just a bit, and drank some water. Our fingers were crossed that she was starting to feel better.
Now, here we are on day 3. Bella is STILL not eating. She does drink some water but not a lot. She has used her litter box to urinate, but that’s it. She has stopped grooming herself. She spends most of her time laying down looking miserable, or sleeping. We try several times to get her to eat but she isn’t interested. The Vet called, we explained she wasn’t any better, maybe even worse. The Vet wants us to bring her back in for blood work, etc. But, again, the cost is $133, plus the office visit is $40, more fluids almost $50, and I’m not sure what the cost of X-rays cost. My estimate is easily $300-$400 to start, more depending on what they find & treatment costs.
We honestly do not have the funds available to help Bella. We adore our little princess and want to get her healthy again. But, we cannot afford this large Vet expense right now. We need your help desperately. We fear she will die if she doesn’t get the care needed. I know the holidays are here so it might be difficult to help much, but any amount will help with her care. We are hoping for our Christmas miracle. That’s all we want, is Bella to be healthy and back to her old self again! Can you find it in your heart to help save her?
Thank you for anything you can contribute and God Bless,
Jeff & Heidi Rushing
