Place2Give Foundation, a registered charity in Canada and the US has created a #YMMFire Fund to assist in the organizations who are working on the front-lines of the #YMMFire and agencies supporting the individuals and families that have been displaced as a result of this natural disaster.

The charities we have selected we have been in touch with to find out what their area of greatest need is so that we can direct the funds accordingly.

• AARCS (Alberta Animal Rescue Crew Society)
• Learning Through the Arts (Aboriginal services)
• Wood Buffalo Food Bank (through the Calgary Inter-Faith Food Bank)
• Rotary Club of Fort McMurray (through the District)
• First Responder Foundations (Fire, Police and EMS)
• Distress Centre (211 services)
• Edmonton Street Fest (performers and clowns in evacuee centres)
• YMCA Northern Alberta (member services)

Because Fort McMurray region is still burning, and people want to help, these charities are doing work now and into the future. We wanted to work with organizations that were nimble, responsive and we could trace the dollars to their point.

We are not raising funds for the long-haul. That is what the government, United Way, Community Foundations and the Red Cross are for.  The funds we are raising will be deployed quickly and effeciently. Place2Give Foundation is able to do this because we have had conversations with the agencies so we know what will be needed and when.

For the Rotary Club and First Responder charities we will be deploying these funds later on per their request.  It is our commitment to our donors that we will send out updates and use of proceed reports.
