Hey everybody! I will be running the Boston Marathon on April 21, 2014, This is what I've wanted since I started running. Wow, it kind of gets me emotional just talking about it. This is it - a lifelong dream about to be realized.
Having a family of my own has made me realize that running for my own personal fulfillment isn't all there is. My dream is also to see a family, so similar to mine, be cured from an awful cancer called Neuroblastoma.
Less than two years ago, the son of some very dear friends, was diagnosed with this aggressive and very rare form of childhood cancer. This strong and courageous boy's name is Alex Shabman. To tell you his battle has been uphill and filled with challenges would be an understatement.
So, in less than 7 weeks, I will run not just to complete my dream of running the Boston Marathon, but I will run for the strongest boy I know. I've decided to dedicate this race to Alex! Alex, YOU ARE MY HERO! I will run for your family: Noah, Jamie, Kaia and Harper. I will run for Neuroblastoma Cancer awareness. I will run to increase your ever-growing Army!
What brings me happiness is not just being able to put on my sneakers and run, but to put those sneakers on, and have every stride and every mile during training and the 26.2 mile journey be for Alex.
Your donations will go directly to the family to assist with his treatment and any unforseeable costs attached to this devestating illnesss. EVERY CONTRIBUTION COUNTS! Your support will help give Alex and his family strength with the emotional and financial challenges ahead. Once again, thank you all for your support and please keep Alex and his family in your thoughts and prayers.
