Rocio Hernandez hasn't added a story.
Aubrey was born July 2011. When she was born she had lots of complications. She was born with spina bifida, severe scoliosis, chiari malformation 2, heart condition called tetrology of fallot, clubbed foot, one working kidney with severe reflux, restrictive lung diease and lung hypertension. Most of this is due to a rare condition called Vacterl Association. Since her birth Aubrey has been fighting for her life her family has been fighting with her.. I (mom) had to quit my job to take care of Aubrey full time. 3 weeks after being in the NICU, doctors told the us there was nothing they could do and she wouldnt make it. We had to make the hardest decision any parent would have to make and she was sent home on hospis. It was expected that within 2 weeks she would be called to heaven. She has 2 sisters and 1 brother that were so excited for her to come home, but they didn't understand that situation we were facing. After a month of being home and praying everyday we stared to notice a big difference, she was not only alive, but she was doing good. We decided to seek a second opinion and took her to a different hospital 2 hours away. Though we knew it would cost a lot more money for food and gas we felt it was so worth it. They gave us hope and in Jan 2012 she had her first major surgery, it was a colostomy placement and she was hospitalized for 3 weeks. While in the hospital her heart started to beat rapidly up to 260's and the doctors couldnt bring it down, we were all afaid it would just stop and she would go into cardiac arrest, but she stayed strong and got through it. In April 2012 she had open heart surgery. She was put on the bypass machine 3 times during the procedure so her recovery was very scary and long. She was facing heart failure in the begining but again she fought against all odds and came out strong. In Jan 2013 she had yet the hardest surgery, she was getting her Chiari decompressed. The procedure that was suppose to last only 1 hour lasted 7 hours. She had coded for 6 mins during surgery and they were trying everything they could to bring her back. In the process blood circulation to her hands were cut off due to the lack of blood in her system. They finally stablized her but thought she would be brain damaged. Miracles happen and she woke up seeing and comprehending everything. Her recovery was long and in the process she lost 2 tips of her fingers on her right hand. BUT SHE WAS ALIVE! We have been blessed in so many ways, but along the way the family has struggled financially. Its been really hard to catch up on old house bills and medical bills. But we are fighting with our daughter and its all worth it. Now that Aubrey is turning 3 we are stepping into a whole new world. She is going to start school and the expenses are just going to get higher. There is many things she is going to need to accommodate her needs and most of these things insurance will not cover. We will also be spending lots of money on gas to take her to school now that her school will not be near home. We are also looking at more surgeries this year. Because things get really hard with our family we are asking for your support. The first and most imortant thing we ask for more than anything is PRAYERS, PRAYERS, PRAYERS, but if you would like to donate to Aubrey you can. Because we know that she is so bright and can accomplish any challenge we put in front of her, these donations would mean so much for us and Aubrey. All the donations go to her needs like clothing, personal needs, educational toys, cushion supporters, wheelchair add-on equipment, special chairs, therapy equipment, medications, hospital bills, school supplies, attachments for wheelchair needed for school. We also accept gifts for her like get well cards, greeting cards, gift cards, gas cards, toys, clothing, accessories, anything that your heart desires. But most importantly prayers from you, from family, from friends and everyone are needed most. You can message us on her Facebook page www.facebook.com/pages/Aubreys-Journey/249495858562694 and we will provide a safe address where you can send it. You are also welcome to follow her journey and see how all your donations will make a difference in her life. PRAYERS ARE ALWAYS WANTED AS DONATIONS Thank you and God Bless you!
