Q. Why support it? Because Yoga is a very powerful tool of self-knowledge, healing and empowerment. The mainstream media has been very skilful at taking this once fringe activity and repackaging into a marketable product removing its depth. This documentary’s aim is to enquire about the roots and essence of Yoga, if this can inspire someone, somewhere to find greater awareness, then our efforts and your help will be worthy.
Q.How are the funds going to be used? Filmmaking is an expensive medium. We have already shot and assembled a working copy of the documentary. We need the funds for finishing the documentary to the highest standard possible. Post production steps we need to cover include color grading, on-line editing, motion graphics and animation, audio mastering and dubbing, archive footage and still image rights and clearance, translation, subtitling and more.
Part & Parcel
a Yoga
documentary Satsang
Satsang (Sanskrit सत्सङ्ग sat = true, sanga = company)
An intimate conversation with unorthodox characters who have dedicated their lives to the study and practice of Yoga in different forms. A personal glimpse into the essence of Yoga through their unique vision and our own journey looking for answers.
Is it a religion, a fitness fad, a scientific discipline perhaps? Along the way we visit pioneering Yoga academics in Britain and India, take part in the practise of the most traditional Sri Patanjala Yogashala temple in Mysore and venture further down the coast, where Bhakti Yoga, the yoga of devotion is practiced along with surfing, in the world's first surfing ashram.
From living legends of Ashtanga Yoga, to the Indian Swami living in a modern cave, we gain precious insights way beyond the marketing stereotype and into the contrasting aspects of contemporary and millenary practises. Part & Parcel is a colourful collage of philosophy, history and personal paths into Yoga.
