SACHA

SACHA in 2014

Our beautiful SACHA was the first one to inhabit the shelter and is presently 3 years old. The picture above was taken in June 2014, when she was healthy and happy.

In January 2015, she got sick with Distemper and nearly died. We managed to save her but her neurological system was attacked and she now has a nervous tick in her head, eyes and jaw for life. Fortunately she can eat although it takes her twice longer than before as she cannot open her mouth completely and needs to "plunge" into the food to grasp it.

She is still a happy girl nonetheless. However, and despite a good appetite, she hasn't been able to regain her normal weight due to an ERLICHIOSIS surge (she already suffered from it a couple years ago but was in recession).

SACHA now

SACHA TREATMENT AND COSTS:

12 boxes of Doxycycline (168 capsules)

1 box of Omeprazole (30 capsules)

B-Complex in syrup form (1 bottle - 120 ml)

Folic Acid

Special diet complement including chicken feet and vegetables

Duration of the treatment: 30 days

Total (approximative) cost: 25 euros

LUCY

LUCY's story is quite sad. She was rescued by a neighbor two months ago in the middle of the highway, having been thrown out of a car and presenting a severe case of dehydration, malnutrition and early signs of Distemper. She was barely skin and bones. Besides, her hip and right leg were severely bruised and swollen by the fall. And on top of that she was depressed and frightened, and wouldn't eat or drink. We had to hydrate her twice through an intra-venous catheter and feed her chicken broth with a syringe for days on end ... and give her much love and attention while starting her preventive treatment for Distemper.

She wouldn't look at anyone in the eyes. She wandered about like a zombie, totally lost. We thought she would pass away. But after a couple of weeks she started responding to the love and treatments, and seemed to be very happy around the cats, cuddling and slowly starting to play with them. She finally looked at me one day with bright eyes for the first time, and since then she has been improving little by little and gaining some needed weight to be able to start her ERLICHIOSIS treatment.

LUCY resting after her meal

Here's LUCY a week ago, resting peacefully outside after her meal.

She still looks skinny but is now quite active and runs around outside almost all day, being a faithful companion to William, our handyman, who is still working hard on the outer fencing.

LUCY TREATMENT AND COSTS:

*** 5 boxes of Doxycycline (70 capsules)

*** 1 box of Omeprazole (30 capsules)

*** September 29, 2015: ALREADY COLLECTED THROUGH OFFLINE LOCAL DONATIONS. THANK YOU! ***

B-Complex in syrup form (1 bottle - 120 ml)

Folic Acid

Special diet complement including chicken feet and vegetables

Duration of the treatment: 30 days

Total (approximative) cost: (20 euros) *** now 15 euros

We expect her to be totally recovered for the next spaying campaign in November! LUCY is about one year old and recently had her "first heat" so she will definitely be the first on the list at that time.

THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!

Even if you cannot contribute as of now, you can still help us greatly by sharing this campaign (and our former campaign too!) around,

NOTE: Our former campaign (read about it here: https://fundrazr.com/campaigns/eyClc) is still running on extended time as we are quite far from the goal. Please share it and especially read the last updates, we are in a state of dire emergency and need to fix a LOT of things, however SACHA and LUCY treatments are as of now a first priority.

SPECIFIC CONTRIBUTIONS:

- SACHA AND LUCY TREATMENTS IN FULL (1 MONTH) = (EUR 45) now EUR 40

- ONE-MONTH FOOD AND MEDICATION FOR 22 CATS = EUR 60

- ONE-MONTH FOOD AND MEDICATION FOR 9 DOGS = EUR 90

OTHER:

- 4 LOCKS TO SECURE THE DOORS IN FENCED AREAS AND MAIN ENTRANCE = EUR 20

- ESTIMATED MANWORK TO FINISH THE OUTER FENCING = EUR 50

(Note: William has been helping us by working without pay for the last two weeks already, but this situation can't last much longer, and there's still A LOT of things to be done! ... we estimate about one month or so.)

- ESTIMATED MATERIALS = EUR 20

(Note: We have bought all the fence, and the poles are being cut from the surroundings. I think we will only need 3 or 4 kgs of wire to secure the fence to the poles, we hope to find more waste.materials for the outer door frame - all the doors were made of waste iron tubes, iron sheets and wood found around the place - and maybe 1kg of electrodes for welding ... )

THANK YOU!

To create an engaging campaign story, please answer the questions below. Don't worry about full sentences or grammar—the focus is on providing detailed information. The more details you give, the better the final story will be. Once you submit your answers, a draft story will be generated for you to review and edit as needed.

  1. What is the problem you want to solve?
Provide a description of the underlying problem or situation you want to improve with funding. Explain why this issue is important and what negative effects it currently has on people, the environment or your community.
  2. What is your solution?
Describe your plan to address the problem and highlight what makes your approach unique or effective.
  3. How will the funds be used?
Outline how the money will be allocated to specific programs, resources or services.
  4. How will contributions make a tangible difference?
Explain the benefits and positive changes resulting from your project being funded. If appropriate, also explain how the lives of beneficiaries will be impacted.
  5. How will you keep supporters involved in your campaign?
