Atomic Monster Magazine's very own Dr. Shriek is writing/directing an 80s horror Halloween movie called "Candy Rot". Featuring old school practical monster, and makeup gore effects. We also collaborated with punk rockers The Anti-Bodies on the theme song.
Candy Rot is something unlike you've seen before!

The Synopsis: In the town of Pitchfork Valley, AZ nothing interesting ever happens. Expect during Halloween night 1988 when three highschool seniors, Adam, Beatrice and Michael discover that the local pumpkin farmer Edgar mutated into a hideous radioactive pumpkin headed monster after being bitten by an alien creature. What follows is a nightmare of blood soaked terror, where they need to fight back and save their town from Candy Rot, and his victims turned mutated zombie freaks before it's too late.
Our Inspirations: Candy Rot is a movie made by
Monster Kids who grew up during the 80s, watching horror movies that
featured over awesome makeup effects, and iconic creatures. Candy Rot
is heavily influenced by Night of the Creeps, Pumpkinhead, Fright
Night, The Monster Squad and Night of the Demons, which all feature
some unforgettable effects work.
How will the funds be used?
Making a horror movie with lots of practical effects monsters, and gore effects can can be pretty expensive, but luckily we know how to take a modest budget, and make something really fun, creative, and full of nostalgia.
Everything we raise will go towards hiring the actors including one or two 80s horror cult classic stars, practical effects from makeup to miniatures, visual effects, set construction, hiring Werewolves in Sibira to create the musical synth score, Director of Photography, hiring key poster artist Drew Rausch, concept and storyboard artists, post production and more!
What's the goal with the finished film?
Once the we have a final cut of Candy Rot, we plan everything from worldwide movie screening at film festivals and horror events, a DVD and Blu-ray release, and even landing a deal with a movie streaming channel, preferably with Shudder.
