Nate is 25yo. He first went into kidney failure in 2018 after tearing his ACL, his freshman year of college (where he got a full ride for football) I like to add that in. lol .After doing work up to do surgery on his ACL they noticed Nate had a lot of blood and protein in his urine.
Nate later had a biopsy where they found out Nate had
IGA Nephropathy. His immune system attacks his kidneys. Although Nate's kidneys were sick they weren't bad enough to start dialysis right away. Nate started dialysis for the first time in 2020 and was very fortunate to get a transplant a few months later in July
2020. Nate was put on a lot of medication to suppress his immune system so that it didn't attack his transplanted kidney. However, because his immune system is suppressed it puts him at a higher risk of contracting illnesses. With that being said Nate contracted RSV (respiratory virus) In December of 2022 which essentially killed his transplanted kidney. Nate went into kidney failure for the 2nd time and started dialysis again in January of 2023. Since then we have been going through the process to get him on the transplant list and have actually just finished all the tasks we need to do and got approved to be on the transplant list. Although Nate is approved for their transplant list the deceased list is 3-5 years long. We are now currently looking for live donors who would want to see if they are a match to donate a kidney to Nate. Even if people can't donate their kidneys we really could use all the prayers and financial donations anyone has to offer for him and our family as we go through this. As you can imagine we are spent emotionally, mentally and financially. Nate currently is doing dialysis 3 days a week. Monday, Wednesday and Fridays from about 630am until 1130am. He then goes home, sleeps and wakes up and goes to work from 3pm- 11pm Mon- Friday. This man does all of this for our family while going through everything he is going through without complaining. He remains optimistic and positive even as life beats him down. He refuses to stop working as he feels like he is the man of the house and he needs to work. Anything donated helps to relieve the stress of him working and will go towards medical bills, daily living (bills etc). Nate is often out of work a lot for surgeries and will be out of work 6+ weeks after transplant. Although I work also sometimes it's not enough. Thank you so much!
