Why another book about superheroes? Because the world needs its superheroes! As kids, we all read the stories, and watched the cartoons, hoping to someday become the next web-slinger, or woman-of-steel. We dreamt of growing up to right the wrongs and help our fellow man. Kids are still dreaming those dreams! Unfortunately, if you look for someone who can fly, shoot webs, or walk through walls, you probably won't find them in your hometown. What you will find is another kind of superhero: Teachers, police officers, firefighters, even the person who delivers your mail or picks up your trash, these are real-life superheroes. Another type of real-life superhero (RLSH) is someone like Razor Hawk, or Thanatos, or Super Hero, or Hazmat, or Zero, or Misery White. These are just a few people of the RLSH community - the people who wear costumes, feed and clothe the homeless, teach kids about safety and nutrition, and help their fellow citizens in many other ways. The RLSH have been around for years. Whether costumed or in plain clothes, these good Samaritans make it their job to provide help when needed. Recently highlighted in the HBO documentary, Superheroes, by Michael Barnett, these proactive citizens are in every major U.S. city, and many cities worldwide. You can learn more about these heroes in our books. You'll also get to know and love our main characters: Indy, Malana, Jack, Kate, Kevin, Seneca, Javier, Otis the Dog, and Louie the Cat. Through our stories, we hope to teach children the importance of being kind, standing up for what you believe in, getting involved in your community, and much more from the code of ethics that all true superheroes live by. We've enlisted professional writers, artists, comedians, and teachers to help us keep these stories fun, effective and relevant. For readers 8 and up, but kids of all ages will enjoy these books. There are 20 stories (so far) and with your help, we can pay the editor, artists, designers, printers, and publicists. Once completed, 10% of all book sales will be divided between Children's hospitals, ALD awareness, and Save the Children. And don't forget, we've got great pledge rewards to help you become part of the story! Check them out on our rewards page. Be a part of bringing this project to life! Be a real-life superhero! Thanks for reading! P.S. The superhero in the drawing above really is named "Super Hero," or "OldSuper Hero" if you're looking for him on facebook. You should friend him, he's a great guy! Here are the donation rewards: $1 or more: The names of all backers will be listed on our "fan club" page in every book! $25 or more: A signed copy of the books of your choice! There will be many different topics to choose from. $50 or more: A signed copy of one of the books, and we will work your name into the background art of one of our scenes! $100 or more: All of the above, and a piece of original artwork from the books. $200 or more: All of the above, and a color sketch of you as a superhero! $500 or more: All of the above, and a guest appearance in one of our books!
