Brystal Sonoma is one of our Cairn terrier family members. We call
her our sensitive dog. The one that knows when something is wrong
with Noah, the one that can feel your distress, the world's smallest
furry healer and medical alert dog. Today, she was in the safety of a
fully fenced in backyard, when she was viciously attacked by a coyote
that had jumped the fence. Both Hollie Edelbrock and Brystal Sonoma
were together, Hollie escaped unharmed, Brystal did not. It was
originally thought the coyote had taken her as it jumped over the
fence, but she had managed to free herself and hid silently under a
table to be rescued.
We rushed Brystal to the nearest ER vet, she has been sedated
with morphine, given an IV, and the estimate for just this night alone
is $1,615.75. We know that she is stable but that her jaw is broken.
We don't know in how many places yet, but she cannot close her mouth,
or keep her tongue in and her jaw is completely shifted sideways. She
will at the very minimum require reconstructive jaw surgery.
Saying goodbye isn't an option for our family. We are a family
of Miracles and we don't know how to take this out of God's hands.
Noah was so distraught when we explained to him about his little dog
and what was going on that he puckered his lips and just let out the
saddest most heartbreaking little cry because cognitively he
understands. Noah lost his service dog in training over the summer
due to Leukemia and a massive uncontrollable hemorrhage, and our
family just can't handle another loss if we can help it.
We have to fight to give her a chance to recover, but
financially with Noah's out of pocket medical and therapy costs, SSI
unexpectedly reducing his monthly payment by more than $300 due to
them being behind on calculations, and other financial hardships we
were not prepared for, we simply need help giving Brystal a chance.
As always it is hard for me to ask for help, every fiber of my
being cringes when I do, this isn't ever easy to say something is
wrong and that you can't do it alone.
Please if you can help give my boys a Christmas Miracle and help
me find a way to heal Brystal from this tragic event. She is simply
the most adorable and sweetest little dog with a heart of gold. And I
have to fight for her, just like I fought for Noah. I know nothing
else, but to never give up hope.
