Heather Hettinger hasn't added a story.

Hello friends, family, and maybe even some strangers. This site has been created to reach out for funding for help with the purchase of a new wheelchair for Cindy Hettinger.  Insurance will only cover about 80% of what her chair will cost so we are believing in the help of friends, family, and God that we will be able to raise roughly $12,000 to make this purchase possible.  Cindy is my husband CJ's Aunt whom has been quadriplegic for most of her life.  Because of an astrocytoma tumor effecting C-5 thru C-7 in her spinal cord Cindy is unable to use basically anything from her neck down.  She depends on her chair to get her around and accomplish tasks in her every day life.  Cindy has been part of Make-A-Wish Foundation for many years and now we are praying to MAKE THIS WISH happen for her.  Despite Cindy's disability she does her best to never let anything hold her back.  Cindy enjoys doing things with her family and friends, hanging in the outdoors, playing and chatting on the computer, painting, and listening to music.  The chair that Cindy has now needs A LOT of work and would be extremely costly to fix, if the parts were even available to her.  New technology with a newer chair would make life so much easier for Cindy.  With the new chair she would be able to lift and lower herself without assistance, answer her phone, navigate around, and most importantly FEEL SAFE.  There have been times that the current chair has failed to lift her up, or lower her and it had to be done manually by her family.  In order for Cindy to get in and out of her handicap accessible van she needs to lower herself to give herself clearance to get in the van.  When this feature doesn't work properly this poses as a hazard to Cindy, especially if she would need to be rushed anywhere at any given time.  When the chair refuses to elevate, this has to be done manually.  This is usually done by her nephews who would lift each side of her seat and shove a board in between the base and the chair to keep her propped up.  This requires the chair, plus body weight to be lifted, while positioning the board and keeping Cindy level.   This is an extreme safety hazard in more than one way.  With a new chair Cindy wouldn't have that fear.  Cindy has also had a scare in the last year where the chair malfunctioned and leaned back to far and wouldn't lock and caused her to almost fall backwards.  These are just some of the problems that Cindy experiences with her chair.  Myself and the rest of her family will be doing various fundraiser, sales, and auctions to help raise money.  If we each take a little time out of our day to put ourselves in her shoes we can make this happen for her.  If you were in her position being unable to use your arms and/or your legs and there was this wonderful machine that could make everything 100 times easier for you, wouldn't you want this for yourself? Our family admires Cindy for overcoming a lot of the obstacles that she has been presented with in her life.  Please help us to push aside yet another obstacle for her path.  For more information on other ways that you can help, you can contact Cindy directly poisonchoick93@yahoo.com or on Facebook under Cindy Hettinger.  Pictures to be posted soon!!!! Please share this link amongst friends, family, and whoever. work together to make this happen for a very deserving individual!!!!

  1. What is the problem you want to solve?
Provide a description of the underlying problem or situation you want to improve with funding. Explain why this issue is important and what negative effects it currently has on people, the environment or your community.
  2. What is your solution?
Describe your plan to address the problem and highlight what makes your approach unique or effective.
  3. How will the funds be used?
Outline how the money will be allocated to specific programs, resources or services.
  4. How will contributions make a tangible difference?
Explain the benefits and positive changes resulting from your project being funded. If appropriate, also explain how the lives of beneficiaries will be impacted.
  5. How will you keep supporters involved in your campaign?
