Katrina Murphy hasn't added a story.
2 year-old Cooper was recently posted on Facebook by his former owners in an attempt to rehome him for the 2nd time in a month. Valerie Denier, former IEBR adopter and family, saw the post and decided to act. When Valerie saw Cooper for the first time, she quickly realized that he was special needs as he had very, very little control of his back legs and essentially pulled himself around with his front legs. Cooper has been examined by a vet and has been found to have two luxating patellas and a spinal issue. It is believed that Cooper does NOT have spina bifida. It is unknown if his spinal issue is congenital or was an old an injury that was never treated. It is unclear to what extent Cooper has control over his bowel and bladder function. When Cooper arrived at the vet, it was determined that he was in a significant amount of pain and is now being treated for this. He was also found to have a Grade 3 heart murmur. Cooper's new family has not asked for help, but could definitely use the help of bullie nation right now. Cooper is facing extensive medical bills.
It is unknown at this current time if Cooper will need surgery
or not. Surgery of any kind is unlikely to help Cooper regain
function of his back legs, but may help with pain issues. Cooper's
new vet is reviewing all the information available to her. He may also
need to see a cardiologist. On top of it all, Cooper is in need of a
wheelchair to help him be more mobile. Would you consider helping?
No amount is too small.
Cooper is not an IEBR dog as his new family immediately fell in love with him. As stated earlier, Cooper's new family is not asking for help, but as a member of bullie nation, I know the power of what we can do when we pull together. In just a few short days, Cooper has really bonded with his new family (including big brother, Rock, who was adopted from IEBR in 2009). They want nothing more than to give him the best quality life possible.
