Suzie is our cheerleader — she's the #1, do-anything-for-you kind of gal that everyone at the track knows and loves. Her husband Doug is a track staple in his own right, having worn just about every hat there is over the years and always going out of his way to help anyone who needs it.
On Sunday morning, August 9th, Suzie's heart stopped while she and Doug were in their motorhome. Doug immediately started CPR and kept it going until police and paramedics arrived — the paramedics had to shock her heart twice to get it restarted. Suzie is currently in the ICU at Sarah Bush Lincoln Hospital, where doctors have found at least one blocked artery. She also continues to have low hemoglobin, and doctors don't yet know the cause.
Right now, Suzie has a long road of recovery ahead, and Doug is by her side every step of the way. This fund is to help Suzie and Doug through everything that comes with a crisis like this — food, transportation to and from the hospital, and the everyday bills that don't stop just because life did.
Suzie and Doug have spent years showing up for everyone else at the track. Now it's our turn to show up for them. Any amount helps — and so does sharing her story with others in our track family.
As we know not everyone is comfortable donating online, Donna Viehland will be collecting donations at the track this weekend for Doug and Suzie and there will be a donation jar at the tech booth.
