Tina Lee hasn't added a story.

I was contacted late this afternoon about a 12 week old kitten that was found on the side of the road. The kitten is blind. It also has full use of only it's front 2 legs. One of the back legs is useless. He tries to use the other hind leg but it has very little muscle in it.

Of course, I couldn't turn this poor little helpless kitten away. He's just a baby and very friendly. I'll get him to the vet and find out the extent of what we are looking at as far as his mobility though he does get himself around pretty well by dragging himself along with his front legs. He even uses the litter box on his own.
This little guy, who we are calling Scrappy, is going to need the village to help now.
If you can help us with his medical care (neuter, shots, xrays and likely leg amputation on at least one side) we would be more than grateful. Little Scrappy deserves a chance at a happy life as much as all the others.

UPDATE 11/18/14:

Scrappy update:
Scrappy saw the vet today. The vet estimates him to actually be younger than we thought. She said he is more like 8 weeks old and not the 12 weeks we initially thought.
Not surprisingly, Scrappy is full of worms. He's been given Drontal for that and will be dewormed again in a couple of weeks.
Bloodwork was done and Scrappy is negative for feline leukemia and feline aids. Yay!
After an exam of his legs the vet did xrays. The xrays showed that Scrappy's tail is all but dead. His tail was something that I hadn't considered while worrying about his legs. His tail kind of flops and falls at the end of his spine and is covering his anus which is causing him to have a back up of feces in his system. His pelvic bone is tilted downward emphasizing the blockage of his sphincter. That is something we are hoping that will work itself out with time but if it doesn't than his tail will need to be removed.
As far as his legs, it looks as if there is a chance that at least one of them can be saved. The injury appears to have been something or someone pulling on his tail really hard and basically ripping the nerves apart. He is trying to use one of the legs and the vet has recommended starting him on steroids and giving that 2 weeks. The hope is that since he is so young and his bones are still forming and him still growing that the nerves will reconnect themselves.
There is no hope for his eyes. The vet thinks he likely had herpes in his eyes and that took his sight. There is nothing we can do to reverse that unfortunately.
Through all of this, Scrappy is a very loving little boy and refuses to give up. He drags himself into and out of the litter box and has gotten pretty comfortable with his surroundings. His hearing has really kicked up to compensate for his loss of vision and is happy to wiggle to you when you talk to him.
Thank you to everyone for the thoughts, prayers and love for our honorary kitty pup!
