Zsofia Kormos hasn't added a story.

Magyarországon hozzávetőlegesen a nők 30%-a éli át a menstruációs szegénységet hónapról hónapra. Kampányunkban a témához köthető War on Period Pain címet viselő kiállítás újrahasznosított textil-installációjából készült sminktáskák kerülnek értékesítésre, a befolyt összeg a NEM!

Approximately 30% of women in Hungary experience menstrual poverty every month. In our campaign, we are selling two types of beauty cases recycled from the textile installation of the exhibition entitled War on Period Pain. How  can you contribute? Buy 1 small beauty case  to help keep one woman's menstrual hygiene for a month or purchase the medium size to cover 2 women 1 month's needs or donate as much as you want to help to improve the menstrual poverty. All the donations go to the NEM! – Nők Egymásért Mozgalom (Women For Each other Movement) so you can be sure you support the cause directly.

A kiállítás a kutatás eddigi eredményeit és a jövőbeli megvalósítási tervek vizuális anyagait illetve felkért alkotók a témára reflektáló munkáit mutatja be.

About the exhibition and the cause

This small fundraiser is part of a pop-up exhibition held in Budapest on 27th June 2019 at 2B Gallery. Zsófia Kormos designer is studying the relationship between fashion, textiles and the human body, working on a wearable technology concept that attempts to solve the types of pain associated with menstruation at Moholy Nagy Art University of Art and Design of Budapest in the frames of her doctorate studies. The War on Period Pain project focuses on the effects of menstrual pain on the female body and addressed through aesthetic and functional practices to the final wearable garment design. The exhibition presents the full spectrum of physical and psychological pain caused by menstruation through various media. By the installations reflecting on the various sensory organs, the visitor gets closer to the pain, even if they are unable to experience it.

The exhibition presents the results of the research so far and the visual materials of the future implementation plans, as well as the works of the invited artists reflecting on the topic.

The taboo and stigmatization associated with menstruation is still a global problem. The purpose of the exhibition is to visualize this with the help of visual tools and to give visitors the opportunity to interact. It is also an important message to draw attention to the social situation of menstrual poverty in Hungary. That’s why we also created this page where we collect donations for NEM! – Nők Egymásért Mozgalom (Women For Eachother Movement) a movement whose activities include helping young women in need who can’t afford sanitary towels and other healthcare products necessary to maintain a minimum level of everyday hygiene.
