I am a candidate in the South Surrey-White Rock by-election on Dec 11. I will advocate for: the armed forces, arts and culture; and small businesses. Donors must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents. Donations over $20 cannot be anonymous.

Introducing Myself

  • My name is Michael Huenefeld. I have been passionate about international relations, military and naval history, politics, public policy, and government since I was a boy and teenager. I speak French and Spanish fluently. I have studied Japanese. I am interested in film, dance, and the arts. I take hip hop dance classes as a hobby.
  • I currently teach business courses at Simon Fraser University and Columbia College. I also have experience working in banking and government.
  • My educational background includes a BA (Honours) in Political Science with International Relations from UBC; a Master's in Political Science from SFU; and an MBA in Asset Management from SFU.

Policies & Causes

  • My campaign in South Surrey-White Rock will advocate on behalf of the armed forces and veterans, victims of crime, and transportation infrastructure upgrades. I will also advocate on behalf of arts and culture and small businesses.
  • Contributors to my campaign will help me publicly advocate on behalf of the issues I care about. I am running to translate the values I believe in into public policy. I am also running to improve management practices in government.
  • Two key values I believe in are (1) freedom and (2) equality of opportunity. I believe in a Canada that is strong, dynamic, tolerant, open, confident, welcoming, forward-looking, and respectful of traditions. I believe a decentralized model of government can be more effective than a model in which senior leaders attempt to micromanage all aspects of local or national administration.
  • I am running as the candidate of the Progressive Canadian Party: http://pcparty.org/

What We Need

  • My campaign needs a minimum of $5,000 to pay for publicity and operations:
    • Facebook ads
    • Google ads
    • Local newspaper ads
    • Transportation expenses to and from the electoral district
    • Other miscellaneous expenses (campaign bank account fees, Fundrazr fees, etc.)
  • Our message will be targeted to local and national media and voters in South Surrey-White Rock.

The Impact

  • My campaign will raise public awareness of key policy issues.
  • I will advocate on behalf of the causes that matter to South Surrey-White Rock.
  • I have political experience at the federal, provincial, and municipal levels. I have worked as a campaign manager and campaign coordinator in the past.
  • Please provide me with feedback and your suggestions. I need your help.

Risks & Challenges

  • There are challenges to running as the candidate of a small party. I am going up against the political machines of large parties. I need your help to overcome this challenge.
  • I plan to speak directly to the people. I plan to ask the people of South Surrey-White Rock about their most immediate concerns. I plan to offer policy solutions that are pragmatic and not ideological.

Other Ways You Can Help
