Proof of concepts are like short films, but not. Producers and the director select a portion of a feature film they are developing and make that portion. The POC goes on to represent the project as a whole - showing style, vision, tone and marketability.
Neill Blomkamp and Robert Rodriguez made POCs for District 9 and Sin City respectively. In November 2018 we will make a POC to add to a full project pitch package, which we will bring to select domestic and international co-producers and financiers in 2019 to fund-raise for our feature Night at Station Main.

Contributing to our proof of concept is an opportunity to participate, an opportunity to support women filmmakers so they can get skin in the game. Independent filmmakers, like athletes that need to train and scientists that need to complete their research, require the support of sponsors and champions who see value in them and who get involved. Remember that amazing Frances McDormand Oscar speech? Inclusion riders! We are rocking a 60% female cast and crew with our lead actor demanding the screen in all her estrogen-filled glory. Beyond the importance of inclusion, the Canadian independent film industry matters too - an industry that embraces and widens culture and contributes to the economy. We are a small community working to tell our stories, practice our trade, use our skills, be seen and have our voices heard. Each person working on this project has a career they are developing, a life they are living with family and friends and are making a positive difference in their own way. THE BLOODY BEATING HEART OF IT
This is a story about your mother. My mother. Every mother. About you, about me. About a woman who has to use her wit and will to regain control and get away from evil people. She is a lioness protecting her kingdom. She has to outsmart the people who want her dead for knowing too much. She won't let that happen. She can't let it happen.
At a time when Canada/US relations are at an all time low, Elizabeth, a spy with a mission, knows more than some people would like her to. To escape a dangerous double life and to protect her secret family Elizabeth goes in to a self imposed exile with her dog to await her expected assassination brought on by new political tensions between the long-standing allies.
While away Elizabeth experiments with self-made drugs, something that she hopes will be the key to getting out from under the people who want her dead. The attempt on her life, which she knows is coming but not exactly when, is complicated by the person tasked with taking Elizabeth out; a fellow secret agent and former lover. As time progresses Elizabeth becomes more and more disturbed by her environment, hallucinating and questioning her ability to fulfill her plan of turning the tables on her would-be killer.

Laura Tremblay of Lucky Dime Films
Lucky Dime Films’ president & founder started her career in the entertainment industry as an actor and has an array of film and television roles to her credit, including The Expanse (Syfy/Space Channel), Ben-Hur (2016; Paramount Pictures), Fugue (Indiecan Entertainment) and has had a leading role in the highly acclaimed touring stage production of Evil Dead: The Musical.
With an intense work ethic and passion for her craft, Laura has made it her goal to create as much art as possible at all times. This drive lead to the creation of Lucky Dime Films in 2016, a production company geared towards making films on a tight budget. Her first ever produced short film, Menses, has over 25,000 views on YouTube and was an official selection of the Toronto International Short Film Festival. Laura has produced two music videos (one of which was an official selection of both the LA Shorts Film Festival and The Bucharest Film Festival), three short films – Menses (2016), Doors (2017), He & Me (2017), and the feature film Lifechanger (2018) that had its North American premiere at Fantasia and its European premiere at London Frightfest.
Lucky Dimes is currently in in pre-production for three short films and has completed the web series Here’s Ginger, which looks deeply into the misogyny and sexism that exists in today's society. Laura prides herself on being a strong voice for women in the Canadian film industry and collaborating with like-minded teams.

Ashley Matt of Mattfilms
Following her studies in art fundamentals and journalism Ashley took up screenwriting in 2009. She co-produced her first feature documentary in 2013. Ashley moved to producing and directing her own work with a handful of micro shorts, one of which was first place winner of the CreativeFuture and VidCon 2015 contest. Ashley's feature directorial debut came with her experimental new wave A Walk that went to the 2016 Agora Film Market at the Thessaloniki International Film Festival. Ashley’s follow up feature, the experimental mumblecore I Believe in Bank Robbers was completed in the summer of 2018. Ashley's third feature is a hard turn into commercial territory with her co-produced noir psychological spy thriller Night at Station Main.
Ashley lives and works in Ontario, Canada. She is a member of Women in Film & Television – Toronto, Women in Film – LA, the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television and Creative Women International.
Michele Kaye
Michele is a writer, producer and director. Selected film works: Here’s Ginger! (web series) 2018, He & Me (short) that screened at the 2018 Deep Cut Film Festival and has been selected for the Berlin Flash Film Festival. Michele is developing her next short, a post-apocalyptic-meets-Heathers and is co-producing the feature Night at Station Main. She has a B. F. A. Honors in Music from York University and Music Theatre Diploma from Sheridan College. Michele is a member of WIFT Toronto, IWCC and Toronto Musicians Association (Local 149- CFM & AFM).

Ashley’s early film education began with rented VHS copies of Monty Python, Peter Sellers, Quentin Tarantino, Martin Scorsese and Francis Ford Coppola movies. With the advent of DVDs, a foreign film section at the corner movie shop and the discovery of a local film group that screened independent pieces Ashley's visual and storytelling style was cemented. Later Ashley's palate was expanded when she discovered Sally Potter, Andrea Arnold, Jane Campion and Mira Nair. Ashley’s inspiration comes from everyday encounters, news, music, art, books and film.
We will shoot the proof of concept (13 pages of an 82-page script) over two days in November 2018 in Toronto. Editing, colouring, sound design, score, mixing will happen in the winter of 2018 and will be ready for winter and spring pitch sessions of 2019.
