Have you met Bean?

If you have, you know she's a disabled 9yo cat that adopted me 6 years ago. I never liked cats, and they had a real tough time convincing me to take her in, but she needs full time care and I'm disabled as well so I can give her that.

The last thing I wanted was the responsibility of a pet, but hearing her story changed something in me.

Bean was severely abused for most of her life and even when they rescued her, she was forced to live alone in a guest room for a year and a half because no one could handle her physical and behavioral issues. It took me three years for her to even let me touch her without biting me. She can't be around children or other pets. She's highly distrustful.

We made it through the pandemic together and ever since, we've been each other's favorites. She still hates everyone else but she loves me and I love her more than I ever thought possible.

• What's this fundraiser for? 
  As I mentioned I'm also disabled, which means I live on a fixed income of not much. For the last 6 years, Bean's vet visits have included all of the basics to keep her healthy. We've worked to make a better life for her and she's truly thriving.
  Unfortunately, I haven't been able to afford all of the bells and whistles since I already spend a large portion of my disability check on things to manage her pain and my own needs.
• In February, 2026 I want to catch her up on medical care. There are many tests and treatments that would benefit her and being that she'll be 10 years old shortly after this time, the vet is really urging us to try to raise the funds to do so.
• Where is the money going? What kind of stuff will this pay for?
  The cost of the visit is always $210, her flea/tick/heartworm meds are $290/yr, her fecal testing  is $200, her anxiety and pain meds are $300/yr, and the vaccines/shots are about $450. On top of all of that, the tests they want to run include kidney and liver function $1200), xray ($800) for her teeth (she's been chewing on only one side for a while and dropping food), anesthesia ($550) because they can't xray without knocking her out (because she'll eat the doctors), and a few other things including checks on her bones since she has so many poorly healed broken bones. Were trying to raise $4k total!
