Our dear friend Scott Bulloch passed away November 20th at his home in Auckland, NZ. We have set up this charity to help support Scott's children during this very difficult time. All of the money in the world won’t bring back their father, but hopefully, at the very least we can all provide some sort of financial aid to enable a more positive future. Scott was a friend, father, brother, uncle, mentor, and absolute legend. He will be deeply missed by his mates & peers all over the world. Please donate generously knowing that all money collected will be divided equally among his three youngest children, still financially dependent. Kia Kaha.
About Scott:
Scott James Bulloch was born the 14th of December 1965 in
Palmerston North, New Zealand. In his fifty-one years on the
planet Scott made quite an impact, enriching lives within and far
beyond the island paradise of his New Zealand home. From days as a
youth selling Hi-Fi stereo equipment in his father's electronics
shop, to being part of the exciting technological paradigm shift at
Serato, Scott's brilliant mind thrived at the intersection of music,
culture and science.
While working at Manawatu TV & Sound Service in Palmerston North, Scott attended and graduated from the Massey University with a Business Marketing degree in 1996. In 2000 Scott established MEAN, his longstanding personal imprint dedicated to innovative electronic technologies, at the same time working as an audio products specialist for Electric Factory & Renaissance Group (an organization dedicated to disabled & supported living services). In 2006, Scott accepted a Sales & Marketing Manager position at Serato Audio Research and hit his stride. Serato was founded in 1998, developing the first time-coded audio pressed into a control vinyl to manipulate digital music through a computer and traditional turntables, revolutionizing the DJ scene worldwide. These and other developments in conjunction with Scott's strategic planning & inventive marketing (including coveted vinyl pressings featuring music from a wide array of musicians, artists, brands and labels on one side, plus signature noise map on the flipside) made Serato an established name in professional DJ circles, clubs and record labels around the world. Scott’s championed musical collaborators include DJ Marky, Plastician, DJ Zinc, Grooverider, J.Rocc, D-Styles and Recloose to name a few.
After departing Serato in 2009, he nurtured the global arts & youth communities in many ways, keeping his finger on the pulse by heading up the London and Auckland Crews for live screen-printing and arts collective Hit+Run, spearheading DJ Kutmah's IZWID record label, curating a series of Red Bull Sound Select events throughout NZ, coordinating international events with GLK, Kutmah, Zackey Force Funk, the Do-Over plus more. By 2014 he began sharing his vast music & industry knowledge by lecturing at the Music & Audio Institute of New Zealand (MAINZ) and gave birth to Radio Teapot, all the while finding time to travel and host friends in the private paradise of Lake Taupo, embodying the true essence of an international ambassador.
There is no doubt his loss will be felt deeply by all who knew him. Most deeply effected by his tragic loss will be that of his family and especially that of his children Georgia (23), Alex (21), Tom (15), Archie (12), and Arabella (8). Scott and his affectionately-named "evil chipmunks" enjoyed every loving moment together, cooking, playing video games, watching movies, hiking Fairy Falls, taking weekend trips to lakes & hot springs, and even finding time to volunteer at local charity events.
Scott impacted and changed lives of many for the better and was always there to listen, conspire, or just come along for the ride. He loved excitement & adventure, and will be remembered for his cheery disposition, energetic passion, all-embracing kindness, luminous leadership and radiant mind.
