On September 19th I will be running the Cortes Half Marathon in a red dress, and with no training! Don't worry, I have run one full marathon and two halfs so I know I can do it :)
I will be running the half marathon to raise money for the Fairy Creek Blockade:

The Fairy Creek Blockade is soon-to-be the largest nonviolent protest in Canadian history, one pitting protesters against a logging corporation, hand-in-hand with the government and RCMP, in cutting down precious old growth trees on Vancouver Island, British Columbia
As of September 2021, it's been over one year since a few people camped out on a forest road. Since then the few people have exploded into thousands of protesters and many camps. There have been over 800 arrests, including myself
Only 2.7% of remaining forests in British Columbia are old growth. Old growth forests play a crucial role in preventing climate change and related disasters such as forest fires, as well as being a habitat for endangered species. Premier John Horgan broke his election promise to defer old growth logging, which sparked the beginning of this movement
Fairy Creek is desperately in need of funds to cover legal fees for the hundreds arrested, as well as the purchasing of food and supplies for protesters still bravely fighting on the front lines
Please support and cheer for me as I accomplish this dubious feat of a red dress half marathon in the name of Fairy Creek. The red dress not only supports the indigenous elder presence at Fairy Creek, but symbolizes the recent discoveries of unmarked graves of indigenous children at residential schools (now at over 1,300), yet another black mark on Canada's current affairs
I will invest your donation in various Fairy Creek initiatives, such as legal fees, food and material supplies, and film/documentary projects spreading awareness about this movement so close to my heart
