My name is Jose Maria Chihuan Arellano. I am 27 years old. At the age of 21 I had a car accident, because the cab driver fell asleep while driving at dawn. This accident caused me a spinal cord injury at cervical level C4. In addition to them, I got a thrombosis in my left leg due to the time of prostration. So far I have not had significant improvements.
I graduated in 2019 with a degree in management and international business. Currently, I am majoring in languages. I have a B2 level in English, B1 in German, A2 in Japanese and basic in Arabic.
I do physical activities at home, but they are not enough for what I need, i.e. comprehensive therapy. Unfortunately, there are no spaces prepared for such therapies. The INR is an institute related to these cases, but it is very backward, and the clinics or private rehabilitation centers do not have adequate equipment and are not very prepared for everything that a spinal cord injury implies.
On the other hand, going out in a wheelchair is complicated. The streets and transportation are not prepared, which limits to be able to walk or perform any kind of management.
That is why, with previous research, I decided to travel for a month to Spain, Barcelona, and Germany, Munich. I estimated the dates between the end of January and/or the beginning of February because it is low season, in addition to lowering the costs and being able to start at once the tour of various rehabilitation centers and explore the facilities for people with disabilities, such as health, transportation, streets, work, future studies, among others. Due to my disability, I can not go alone because I need the assistance of someone for my transfers, support in bladder catheterization, among others.
I want to make this trip to look for new alternatives that can improve my quality of life, both in the field of work and health. In addition, I have the possibility of registering in Barcelona in person, in order to obtain a disability identification and be able to find a job more easily.
On the other hand, I want to show in the form of a blog how accessible it is to travel and how the hotels are conditioned for a disabled person, tips on how to take the trip, since it is totally different compared to a person who has an injury, among others.
Unfortunately I do not have the economic resources to be able to make such a trip. That is why I have started this crowfuding to be able to raise the amount.
