Hi all!

My name is Juan Sebastian Marquez. I was born and raised in Colombia and by the age of 18 I moved to the US (first Miami, then NYC) to pursue my B.A. in International Relations and Political Science and my M.S. in Negotiation and Conflict Resolution (now I am 27years old). After living in NYC for 3 years I was offered a possibility to work, almost volunteer, for an international NGO in Kenya providing services to refugees in the Kakuma Refugee Camp. This was and is one of the goals I always had for my professional life, so there was no reason I was going to refuse it. My savings were not that big, but one way or another I was able to pay for the travel cost, first months of rent (Shared house), and basic living expenses. The problem is that I never thought Nairobi was going to be such an expensive city, and the budget I brought ended up being really low. This is where all of you come in place. I am raising some money so I can stay in Kenya until December, working for this amazing mission and fulfilling my dreams.

Currently, I am technically a volunteer for the organization, but I highly appreciate the work they do in the camp and I want to be able to further support the organization and stay a longer term.

With your support you will become part of this dream, which one way or another has become a reality. I will not promise I am going to save the world or any of these grandiose ideas that we first have when we think about the humanitarian work, but I can promise that I will support this organization, which is doing great things for the refugees in terms of capacity building and psychosocial support for children, while learning a lot in order to grow as an individual, and as a professional with the intention of doing bigger things in the future.

Help me grow this dream!

Thank you all.
