I was alerted on Facebook about a cat that had suffered from major trauma and was huddled in a corner of an apartment complex in Tempe, Arizona on 1/17/2014.

My husband, already running late for a work meeting, drove very quickly to Tempe from Phoenix and took the poor guy straight to our vet, Animal Care Hospital. Vet assumes kitty was hit by a car. Surgery is scheduled for Monday, 1/20.

Here is what is going on so far: Jaw is fractured at chin and vet also found some crunching towards the right side of jaw, indicating a possible second fracture. The blood is said to have come mainly from the nose, multiple small fractures throughout. Since kitty is so swollen, X-rays will be taken when kitty is sedated for surgery. Continual bloodwork has shown no indication of internal bleeding. He has major lacerations down his hind legs, the biggest being the width of a quarter, with some deep tissue damage indicative of severe road rash.

Kitty is a male, adult (we can't get the best idea of age without looking at his mouth), unaltered, tested negative for FIV and FeLV, is not microchipped and is super, super sweet considering. He is on IV fluids, antibiotics, anti-inflammatories and pain meds and is happily taking syringed foot and water.

The vet tech knew he was feeling better when she walked up to greet him yesterday and he rolled on to his back, asking for belly rubs. She said he also started pawing at his blanket, "making biscuits"!

We have already spent $1,000 to date. Surgery is going to cost at least another $1,000. Please help us help kitty! Anything and everything is so appreciated!
