Four years ago, Paul had a near fatal spinal cord injury that left him paralysed from the shoulders down. In the year and a half --and two hospitals-- that followed, Paul didn't receive so much as one day of rehab. We were told to just "accept and adapt", because apparently any kind of recovery for a high level injury such as Paul's was unheard of.  But we're stubborn cookies. We researched rehab options everywhere, and ended up working with one of only two specialists in the world who would even consider working with Paul. As the specialist is based in the US, the sessions are conducted remotely with the help of an amazing group of volunteers. And, as I knew he would, Paul just blew everyone away. From needing four (strong!) people to hold him up, Paul is now actively standing with the help of only one person, is able to do small squats, and is controlling a good portion of his body. He has also started moving his arms and hands, something we were told was impossible. He is progressing week by week, and it's an amazing thing to witness. 

Paul is determined to keep going until he can walk, and I don't doubt for a second that he will. But at this stage, we need your help to reach the next level: we'd like to continue with the rehab, buy some necessary equipment, and explore some alternative treatment options that would speed up Paul's recovery, but are currently out of our reach. 

We are getting on with our life together, choosing to have fun, smile often, and make the most of what we've got. But there's no denying that, the sooner Paul is able to have some autonomy, our quality of life will improve tenfold. We'd very much appreciate any help you can give us to get there. Thank you!
