Please join me on Saturday, July 6 at 7pm GMT at The Swiss Church in London (or via livestream!), for a recital of vocal music from the nineteenth to twenty-first century. I will also perform a new song cycle I wrote for harmonium and voice called "we will part". I am so excited to perform these pieces in such a beautiful large space in Covent Garden! All proceeds from this recital will go towards pursuing my Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance at London's Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance this September. All "contributors" will receive a recital ticket or livestream link!

About me:

My name is Ruby Nightingale and I am an Australian soprano living in London. I love baking honey cakes, practicing yoga, and the original Sabrina the Teenage Witch series, but my greatest passion is singing and the vast possibilities of vocal performance. My goal is to be an opera singer and interpreter of contemporary repertoire who challenges creative boundaries, remains aware of social impact, and explores diverse performance practices. Pursuing my master's degree at Trinity Laban, or "London's creative conservatoire", is the greatest next step I can take towards achieving this goal. This program delves not only into traditional and early repertoire, but also into new music, improvisation, and modern performance practice. This program values collaboration between artists and departments, commissioning new operas by living composers, and recently presenting "Venus Blazing", a commitment to works by women composers making up fifty percent of their programming. Trinity Laban also performs in exchanges with the Tate Modern Museum, and this year the vocal department was able to work with guest artist, Barbara Hannigan (my favourite Goddess). This is also a rare program in that I will have the opportunity as a vocal student to study conducting, composition, creative leadership, and attend dance workshops. I am so honoured to have been accepted into this program and I could not design a curriculum more suited to my creative goals!

Why I am fundraising:

I have not lived in the UK long enough to qualify for UK student loans, and my UK residency makes me ineligible for Australian student loans. I could not be more grateful for the opportunities I've had to live abroad! However, I now face the challenge of self-funding international student fees in the UK with very few options for support due to my residence and citizenship. All proceeds from this recital will go towards my school costs. I am so grateful for your support and hope to see you on July 6 in London or via the world wide web!
