About Colectivo Milpa
Colectivo Milpa is a network of members of Indigenous communities and organizations in Central America and the diaspora. We share a vision of opening transnational spaces and supporting and strengthening the decolonization processes initiated and led by our abuelas y abuelos.
Mutual Aid
Indigenous communities is Nahuizalco (in so-called "El Salvador") are mobilizing in opposition to the looming threat of a hydraulic dam construction along the Sensunapán River. Sensunapán holds a pivotal role as one of the primary water sources in El Salvador and is considered a sacred river by the Nahua Nation. This ancestral river not only sustains a diverse local fauna but also serves as a lifeline for the surrounding communities. Alarmingly, Sensunapán is already burdened by exploitation, hosting seven operational dams, some of which were erected illicitly and without the consent of the affected communities.
Over the past 18 years, indigenous communities and their leaders have fervently opposed the construction of dam projects. In the most recent developments, legal maneuvers and court decisions have compelled indigenous leaders to articulate fresh demands, elevating their resistance to a new level of tenacity and determination.
The indigenous communities residing near the Sensunapan River are the direct descendants of survivors from the 1932 genocide. Beyond its role as a water resource, the river bears profound significance because numerous sites along its course are regarded as sacred, serving as the final resting places for their abuelos y abuelas.
This mutual aid campaign seeks to accompany the Nahua communities in Nahuizalco in their struggle for self determination. Please join us.

Perks
The Land of the Elders by Ebany Dohle (Available in English & Spanish)
NAHUAT-PIPIL is an Indigenous Uto-Aztecan language spoken in El Salvador with approximately 100 speakers, many of whom are socially and economically vulnerable (2022). This story was inspired by speakers living in Santo Domingo de Guzman in El Salvador, who Ebany Dohle met through their collaborative work and research to better understand the relationship between language, land, environment and heritage.
To some, Indigenous languages might seem outdated or old-fashioned, however, when we take the time to learn an ancestral language, we learn to see through eyes of our Elders, and connect to their deep wisdom and knowledge. Our heritage languages are our roots and when we accept where we come from, we can walk with self-awareness, integrity, and stability, and have a better impact on the world.
This book hopes to inspire children and adults alike to
reconnect with their ancestral and heritage languages and cement the
relevance and importance of such languages in the modern world.
BOMB Magazine has been publishing conversations between artists of all disciplines since 1981. BOMB's founders—New York City-based artists and writers—created BOMB because they saw a disparity between the way artists talked about their work among themselves and the way critics described it.
Today, BOMB is a multi-media publishing house that creates, disseminates, and preserves artist-generated content from interviews to artists' essays to new literature. BOMB includes a quarterly print magazine, a daily online publication, and a digital archive of its previously published content from 1981 onward.
