Brad Ritter hasn't added a story.
Hello,
My name is Brad Ritter and I need your help. Krista Bugenhagen, age 41, was my cousin and on December 13, 2018, Krista passed away courageously and in peace at her home in Stamford, CT after fighting through four years of cancer treatments. She leaves behind her husband, Jim, along with their two sons, Mason (age 8) and Damon (age 4).
Krista worked at Chelsea Piers Sports and Entertainment Complex and was manager of the Human Resources department at the New York location and HR Director at Chelsea Piers Connecticut in Stamford. For over 15 years, Krista also served as the Administrator of the Sky Rink Youth Scholarship Fund, a role for which she was extremely passionate (the scholarships were for sports camps and after school sports programs). Krista inspired literally hundreds of people by her outgoing, warm, generous, and always-positive demeanor, by her strength of character and her tenacity and toughness. Many people, both family and friends, have said on multiple occasions that Krista was the most resilient and strongest person they have ever known.
One of her favorite sayings was, "You never know how strong you are until strong is the only thing you have left."
It was Krista's wish that her boys continue their education at St. Patrick's School located on 483 Old Post Road in Bedford, NY 10506. Due to Krista's wishes, the school has decided to start a scholarship fund for their children. If you're reading this, that's where you come in.
So, in honor of Krista's wishes, and to give back to her boys as she gave to so many others through her scholarship work, I would like to raise money for Mason and Damon's scholarship fund for their schooling. To do this, I've decided to step outside of my comfort zone and challenge myself with a crucible style event. On July 12th, 2019 in Indianapolis, IN, I'll be competing in a 50 plus mile race. To put this in perspective, the furthest I've ever run is a half marathon or 13.1 miles. Oh yeah, one more thing. Did I forget to mention I'll be doing this in the middle of the night with about 30 pounds of gear on?
You can read the details of the race here:

I'm not going to lie, I'm scared shitless right now. I know my body will break down but mentally I'll have to stay in the fight just as Krista did for those long 4 years of her own battle.
My challenge for you is to do two things:
1.) Please share this message with just one person you know. Word of mouth is still king and I'd appreciate your help in spreading the word.
2.) Please donate. You can do so directly on this site. We need your money, and every dollar you give will be sent over to the school's scholarship fund.
Finally, I'll leave with you with a poem that Krista's parents, Tony and Barb Ritter, presented at her celebration of life.
Thank you!
God saw that she was getting tired
And a cure was not to be,
So he put his arms around her
And whispered "Come with me"
Although we lover her dearly
We could not make her stay,
So with tearful eyes
We saw her fade away
A golden heart stopped beating,
Hard-working hand to rest,
God broke our hearts to prove to us
He only takes the best
