Help Save The life of Maximiliana Laʻakea Aurelius
A Father’s Fight for Medical Justice, Recovery & Hope
My name is Etienne Aurelius. I am the sole legal and physical custodian of my beautiful daughter, Maximiliana (“Max”), a courageous two-year-old girl whose story has already inspired millions and is shaping the future of children’s brain injury recovery around the world.
A Crisis Born of Negligence and Systemic Failure
After suffering catastrophic abuse, Max was hospitalized at Kapi‘olani Medical Center in Honolulu, where I expected her to be cared for and protected. Instead, I encountered an unimaginable nightmare.
For over 30 days, Max was starved of nutrition while on life support, her body wasting away, and her recovery actively delayed.
- Despite family court orders giving me sole custody and all
medical authority, the hospital allowed a court-restrained abuser
under criminal investigation to make life-and-death decisions for Max,
decisions that resulted in the unlawful cancellation of surgery
recommended by her own doctors.
-Due to this she now has been intubated with an endotracheo tube for over 120 days which is 100 days beyond all medical guidelines and protocols. This is due to a single doctor who's the director of the Kapiʻolani PICU who refuses to change Max's code status when her survival clearly proves his initial diagnosis wrong. He is being supported by the director of the Surgery department named Dr. Sid Johnson. They are both named in the active lawsuit and are being sued in the First Circuit Court in order to allow Max to receive the care she deserves.
-Doctors and administrators have attempted to performed dangerous, unauthorized procedures on Max and retaliated against me for advocating for her life, even banning me from her bedside and excluding me from critical decisions.
When I spoke out and demanded my rights as her father, I was met
with intimidation, retaliation, and an ongoing campaign to silence me.
This is not just about medical malpractice. This is about systemic
negligence and the violation of fundamental parental rights, the right
to fight for your child, to protect them from harm, and to ensure they
have every chance to survive and thrive.
A Battle for Medical Accountability and for Every Child’s Future
I am now fighting a complex legal battle (pro se, representing myself in court) to hold Kapi‘olani Medical Center and the responsible doctors accountable, to restore my daughter’s right to receive best-in-class medical care, and to secure justice not only for Max but for all families facing a system more invested in liability and organ trade than in healing children.
My daughter’s story has brought to light failures spanning, multi-billion-dollar hospital systems, governmental agencies, and a broken medical culture, willing to give up on children like Max.
Her journey is changing the conversation in pediatric neuroscience, proving that children are far more resilient and capable of recovery than most doctors believe.
The Max Recovery Protocol: Pioneering Hope and Science
Despite everything, Maximiliana is a living miracle. Her will to
survive has defied dire predictions and refusal to give up by
“experts.”
With your support, our next goal is clear:
To build a dedicated, world-class medical room in our home,
designed for cutting-edge neuro-rehabilitation, love, and hope.
Max is the first-ever pediatric participant to use the Thor
Photobiomodulation Infrared Helmet, scientifically proven to regrow
brain tissue and repair cells. Already, Max has achieved breakthrough
milestones in her recovery.
- We are integrating Transcutaneous auricular VNS (ta-VNS)
stimulation, another revolutionary, world-class therapy never before
used in children, into Max’s care.
- These, along with other therapies, form the foundation of the
Max Recovery Protocol: a plan that seeks not just stabilization, but
real, comprehensive recovery, guided by doctors, scientists,
therapists, and believers in what the human brain (and spirit) can do,
especially in children.
-We are assembling a team of innovative, compassionate professionals and need your help to give Max the chance every child deserves.
A Call for Change for All Our Children
Max’s story is not only about the fight for one child. It is about
changing how hospitals and the legal system view pediatric brain
injury, parental rights, and medical ethics.
It is about exposing
and ending the betrayal of sick children by those meant to care for
them, shining a light on institutional failures, and demanding
evolution in medical science and compassion.
Your support is a stand not just with us, but with every family whose child faces insurmountable odds and meets a system that says “no” instead of “let’s try.”
How You Can Help
Your donation will go directly to:
- Building Max’s home medical
room and funding specialized equipment and therapies
- Covering legal and expert costs in the ongoing fight for her
rights and her life
- Supporting the outreach, advocacy, and education needed to
prevent other children from suffering as Max has
- Helping us develop and document the Max Recovery Protocol, for
Max, and as a model for children worldwide
Every dollar, every share, and every message of hope matters beyond words.
Together, we can show the world that love, faith, and new science outshine fear and outdated thinking. For Max, and for every child whose future is still possible.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for reading, believing, and standing with us. May Max’s name echo through the halls of every institution that forgot its real purpose, and may her recovery inspire courage and change for all.
With deepest gratitude,
Etienne Aurelius, father, advocate,
believer in miracles!
