I'm looking to start
an
independent improv jam
& I need your help!
I'm trying to raise money to cover startup costs to begin hosting a weekly jam at Eclectic Box. It will be called The BOAT (Best of All Time).
 | I have been a regular participant of the Endgames Jam since 2017 and its host since 2021. Lately, I've been reflecting on the state of the world and just how important the Bay Area improv community is to me. So, with the help of some close friends, I've decided to try something new: hosting a school-agnostic improv jam that everyone could attend in a more accommodating space. |

 | Once a month, I would host an improv jam/team showcase that would be open to the public. It would be a ticketed event for non-Jammers (donations are always welcome). I would restructure the format in a few ways: longer sets with larger chunks and extended sets for teams. I would also book local teams/groups to perform in the usual team slots. My hope is that the income from this monthly event would help sustain the Jam during the “workshop” weeks. I also think it would be a great opportunity to expose teams and performers to new audiences, give new performers some show experience, and make it a celebration of this performing art. Plus, it would be a SHOW! |
 | If I raise more than the funding amount, I will put every extra dollar towards the remaining overheard of the Jam and Showcase. This means I will have more flexibility while keeping the BOAT as low-to-no cost as possible for Jammers! |
