We have both pursued a career in nursing to be kind, compassionate and caring to all individuals in need of services. Living in England we know we have access to fantastic free medical amenities and sometimes we forget just how privileged we are to live in such an affluent country.

Whilst researching how to take part in volunteering work, we came across Camps International's Hospital Outreach programme. The programme is aimed at providing much needed support to Msambweni Hospital in Kwale County, Kenya. Situated in an area experiencing high levels of poverty, they are under staffed and lack the necessary resources to reduce high mortality rates. It is a demanding programme that will see us spending two weeks working closely with the staff at Msambweni, offering expertise, support and advice. The Hospital offers a challenging environment, but we hope to really gain a huge amount from our time here. We are looking forward to getting stuck in and helping to make a difference. ,

The people of Kenya live in permanent poverty and disease and yet they have developed a community of happiness and hope. We hope to absorb and learn as much as we can about their inspiring attitudes to embed into our own practice and values back home.

Not only do we want to be a part of this team of volunteers, we want to take with us; medicines, bandages, medical equipment, clothes etc. Supplies that we have access to 24/7 but unfortunately are limited in Kwale. If you could help us raise as much money as possible to help us to buy as many supplies as we can afford it would be most appreciated, by us, as well as by the people of Kwale we're sure. The more we raise the bigger the impact we are able to leave in this community.

Thank you so much

Maria and Jessica.
