Goodbye Paris is a musical about The Lost Generation that focuses on characters “lost in the shadows” of the iconic figures of Hemingway and the Fitzgeralds. Our characters are young, ambitious and entangled in a complex web of conflicts driven by the corrosive power of fame and confused sexual identities. They live in a narcissistic community feeding off of each other’s lives to create their art. Everyone is on the make. Everyone is falling in love with the wrong person. It's a laugh riot until a long simmering conflict between Hemingway and his former lover Robert McAlmon knocks their world sideways. And the comedy gets a little darker. For the past year John Roby and I have been finalizing a new draft of Goodbye Paris, revisiting lyrics and enlisting the support of a very talented group of actors to record a new set of music demos. The time has come to take the next step.
John and I are planning a special event for Sunday, Nov. 27th (7PM). We will be presenting a concert version of Goodbye Paris for producers, artistic directors, potential investors and committed supporters of our work. To achieve this goal we need to raise $5,000 to book the place, pay the talent, attract investor interest, and, hopefully, jump start a full production of Goodbye Paris.
