My name is Timothy Bosak with Kennedy Roofing & Exteriors. I have always had a sincere passion for helping others however I can. Thankfully, I was blessed with the opportunity to further broaden that passion in my own career. And even more blessed when I learned that the amazing group of people with Kennedy Roofing & Exteriors share the same passion.

I have been looking for a way to pass those blessings along to others, so I decided to begin raising funds for people in the community that are in need of a new roof, but are unable to do so because of a lack of finances or personal hardships. It wasn’t long before I received a nomination for just that person...our newest friend, Lanny, who is so desperately in need of a new roof that his is literally about to cave in on top of him.

Upon meeting Lanny, I immediately knew he was definitely in need of his own blessing. He and I connected immediately and he began to tell me all about his life...

Lanny is an 84 year old Air Force veteran who has lived in his home for over 50 years. He raised his 5 children and even grandchildren there. His wife of 51 years, who was also his childhood sweetheart, passed away unexpectedly 9 years ago and he was recently diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and dementia.

After his wife’s passing, he worked at Walmart as a greeter. It gave him the opportunity to not only earn a living, but to establish relationships and try and fill the void he felt with his wife being gone. To this day, his son takes him back to that Walmart and everyone there now greets him with open arms.

After the beginning stages of his Alzheimer’s had set in he was no longer able to work and he retired from his greeter position in 2009. His only income is social security and with that, he is not even able to maintain homeowners insurance.

Lanny’s roof is in terrible shape. He’s patching it when he can afford to, but it’s now actually beginning to cave in. There are leaks throughout the house because of it and areas of the ceiling are even beginning to crumble into the house.

I visited with Lanny Sunday and told him about my plans. It took a while to convince him that there was in fact no hidden “agenda” or catch. He told me, “Son, ain’t nothing in life free!” As he began to realize that it was actually a legitimate offer he dropped his head and said, “Well then it must be a gift from the Lord.” We spent the next several hours talking about his life and he smiled the entire time having that opportunity to share his stories.

I sincerely believe that we were put on this earth to spread joy and ease the hardships of our fellow man however we can. Lanny deserves such help. Please help us provide for him what he is unable to provide for himself and get his new roof on.
